There is a sort of indulgence and positive emotion to be had in the other sins, but not Envy. When your entire existence is extracted from one entity's very essence of being jealous and spiteful towards others, how could you ever be happy?

2023-08-16 21:09:19 +0000 UTCAnother thing to point about very jealous people is that they are so envious of what it is that they want that others have, is that they flat out reject it out of disgust even if it is available to them. A if I can't be the only one to have it then no can, and thus proceeds to destroy it for themselves and everyone else around them. As Ed pointed out, the thing about humans that Envy was so jealous of is that their friends and family would pick them back up no matter how many times they got knocked down. A behavior completely alien to Homunculus as they all exist to serve father, all except Greed. Greed, true to his name sake wanted underlings, and things, and companions and just freely sought them out because that's what he coveted, which is something Envy could've done as well at any time but refused. Out of all the Homunculus that exist to embody their sin, Greed was probably the most fortunate as his sin allowed him some form of freedom to embrace all that he wanted whereas Envy was bound to reject everything he ever wanted, and thus had no choice but to be a servant of the only ones who would have him, the Homunculi

2023-08-16 19:58:33 +0000 UTCI think it's also the fact that Envy thinks he has humans figured out and that they're so easily emotionally manipulated. So when everyone decided to set their differences aside. Envy could not comprehend it and it was more of an emotional defeat in Envy's case.
