im a week late here, but i laughed so hard on episode 54's first few seconds... every time ange brings up the female titan's blood... i can't help but laugh because i was probably one of the first 5 people that gaslit him at the time on patreon before it became a channel meme... Today's the day the world ends, so better just walk after Envy in the basement torturing him instead of turning him to ash in thirty seconds and moving on to Father.

I disagree however, I can kind of see a more thematic point to the scene about rulers not allowing personal issues to impact their decision making but I don't think that has much relevance to the actual scene. Hawkeye intercedes only when Roy is about to kill Envy, not before, so I don't see how it's about anything other than him being the one to kill them. And to have three characters with such different outlooks and perspectives all converge over what amounts to semantics in this situation just breaks my suspension of disbelief completely. Todays the day the world ends guys, get your gun out of your allies face for the love of God, there are actual important things going on. To reiterate again, I'm not trying to be argumentative about this, I wrote the comment in a fit of pique last night, I get that other people won't get wound up about it as much as me :)

2023-08-16 16:52:55 +0000 UTCIn the Japanese version of the dialogue between Hawkeye and Mustang (ep 54), I remember the subtitles are a bit different. I remember Hawkeye said if she has to shoot Mustang, she would not be able to carry on and she would bury herself next to the flame alchemist. This is what drove Mustang to shoot the flames sideways. I see it as Hawkeye expressing how she feels. Both Mustang and Hawkeye's father are flame alchemists but we know who she is referring to. I hope the subtitles I saw are correct.

Seeing what an asshole he was made him an unforgivable character sure, but something about the way his death was handled was so perfect— he was a character that always looked down and pitied humans, but in his final moments it was the other way around; it wasn’t the saddest death in the series but it was definitely up there as one of the best written ones. Also: ✨💪🏼RESPECTABLE MUSCLES💪🏼 ✨

Rooting for my boy Ange from now on over at the soup kitchen Great reactions, Hohenheim's reveal that he personally spoke with every single one of the 536k souls in him is in my favorite moments of the series. Great callback to when Carly mentioned that Hohenheim seemed "noble" some episodes ago when we weren't sure if he was going to be part of the good guys or the big bad. Thanks for going through this gem of a series, going to be sad when this one is over

It's just perfect, the way they don't talk at all to each other. They see eachother, and just respect and admire eachother, no words needed, just firm handshakes (probably really firm) and some muscle flexing.

2023-08-15 19:19:46 +0000 UTCWell there is actual symbolism in how Homuncules perish/lose according to their sin name (to not spoil I'll only talk about ones by now): Lust - Was brought to her knees by a man who did not lust for her while she "fell" for him, in her final moments she loved his cold focused eyes. Gluttony - was eating people, he ended up eaten himself. Envy - Jealous of humans, he always tried to push them down beneath him, he was not able to be "Better Than Them" so he killed himself. Sloth - he wants to laze around, But ends up dying from trying hard.

Angelo saying he was "calm" when it would've been more correct to say he was being "cold" is why they stopped him. It would have changed Roy for the worse to go full dark side and finish off Envy.

Having said that, I was more thinking about how pathetic he was, and the Homunculi in general, in that these beings were created by father for very cruel and sad purposes, born to be the embodiment of a sin. The Homunculi are technically superior in terms of their abilities, but their sense of self was predetermined. Seeing Envy trying to comprehend that Ed and everyone else can move on, change and grow was the part feel sad about, not Envy himself. In his very last moment, I thought he may be starting to realize and overcome his pre-programmed perspective and tendencies, but I'll never be sure, because he chose to end his life instead of following through on that internal struggle.

Even if not, I think he's the only Homunculus we haven't seen die once yet in the entire show, given how skilled he is, so he must still have more than enough souls to regenerate from that. I took his survival story more like a joke or he showing off like "dude, I just walked away from the train".

You’ll see how it matters as the series goes on. And also the guy was dodging bullets and cutting a tank shell in half, but jumping on rubble is where the line was drawn lol. There’s no sensible physics in this series. He’s a pure speed and agility character.

Nah he was a fun villain but he really deserved to be melt down by Roy, and I don't think that would make Roy a bad leader, but I get their point. The important part is Envy's dead and Roy and Riza had a cute moment.
