At the start i said Reigen is one of the best character anime has to offer. And after season 2 you still have to see why... Also... Season 2 is EVEN BETTER then season 1. It will blow you away. :- D

Disantos

I'm well aware of all these things. It was just that the "brother being in danger" part hit a little too close to home and even the memory of that anger brings down my mood quite a bit.

lmao "ripped apart", alright dude put down the claws. Don't get me wrong though, defending one's brother is noble, absolutely. The whole point of this claw conflict, however, was that these adults were ACTUALLY so detached from reality that they would attack to kill middle schoolers. Reigen knew Mob would slaughter these people if he wanted, and it's not a normal reaction or a child's place to give back that intention to kill. Human life isn't so cheap, and he wasn't ready to shoulder that burden. Reigen very well saved Mob from a dark future with his actions.

I think the issue you may have, is that while you may have already figured out your ideals and morals, Mob hasn't. He's been shown so far to seclude himself away from everyone, including himself in a way since the incident. Reigen being the exception and even then he doesn't share everything, up front, right away. Reigen just deduced, correctly imo, that if Mob were to take a life with his powers, which seemed very likely because Ritsu was in danger and he definitely is inexperienced with his powers in a fight with humans. He'd likely develop another major complex, especially being so under-developed emotionally as he is now. Also, although the fighting was intense, mob hadn't done anything yet, so Reigen probably figured "Hey you probably have enough power to zoom us out of here." whilst thinking that the more experienced kids were probably thinking under adrenaline and so were tunnel visioning. Glad things went relatively well with your brother btw, if I give off the impression that "You yourself are wrong objectively about how you feel things should go" then sorry, not my intention. Just trying to maybe give you another point of view that you've might've overlooked.

No I understand completely. I'm just saying I could not relate to either character in that situation. It wasn't even about him stepping in to stop Claw in general let alone killing them. Blow them away, stun them, distract them and run away. Any of those I could've accepted if he doesn't want to outright stomp them. But standing by and do nothing to stop them killing his brother? Nah that's too far for me. We've already seen him using his power to defend Ritsu. Sure a point was made that he would've gone in with too much malice, but speaking as someone who heard that my brothers life was threatened over a jacket in high school, I was absolutely ready to become a demon to help him and even the hesitation on Mobs part is alien to me. And just to clarify, nothing happened with my brother but seeing this finale just reminds me how I felt before things cleared up.

David Jonsson

I think you kinda misunderstood Reigen there. I don't think he meant for Mob to abandon his brother and run away. What he meant is to take your brother and run instead of fighting back. I actually agree with Reigen and it's in line with the story up until now. So far Mob has been portrayed as teenaged boy who just tries to deal with the various problems in his life which comes with his esper power. He never aims to be a super hero to save the world. So I don't think he shouldn't burden himself with trying to stop the organization for the sake of the world. Reigen understand all of these as well as the mental state of Mob when he loses control. That's why he tells Mob to run instead of trying to take all the big responsibilities onto himself. Sure running away doesn't look so good and maybe cowardly but, Reigen is saying all of this because he cares for Mob's well being.

Sadly, i think you totally missed one of the underlying themes of this finale / season. Obviously Mob wants to protect his brother that is the only reason for him, he doesn't care about fighting to stop claw. Reigen did not want Mob to literally murder Claw because in the end he would suffer. We have already seen how much Mob has been mentally affected from the event that took place as a child which literally causes him to explode with uncontrollable powers now and you are saying Mob should just let loose and kill people? Comments like this make me think you are not even watching the show and just want to see cool fight scenes.

beansprouts

Don't worry you're not alone lol. I wouldn't say I *hated* the speech but it didn't really make sense and the show tried to portray it as a legitimate moral quandary and divide for Mob to ponder. It may have worked in a different situation and context but in the fight they were in it didn't make sense to consider running. Like....run and then let the Claw be free to do more harm? That said, on a plot mechanics level I think it was neat for the power transfer thing to happen and it was refreshing vs just having Mob clean everything up again. It was dynamic at least in that sense. It just wasn't thematically as effective.

Veya

Perfect reaction to a perfect finale! Loved this entire season with you all.

I'm well aware that I'm in the vast minority here but I've always hated Reigens speech about it being okay to run away. In some situations it absolutely is, but not here for me. If I had found myself in a scenario where I was being told not to defend my brother who had people trying to kill him....the person who said that to me would've been the first I ripped apart. I don't care who it is.

David Jonsson

Season 2 is going to be great from start to finish, so please look forward to that. Fun fact that I just found out when looking through the voice actors: Gouda, the Body Improvement Club pres, is voiced by the same man who voices Muzan from DS... GOATED as both a good and villain character. I do always appreciate you two trying to spot VA's you may recognize, but I want to point out that there are a LOT of well-known Japanese voice actors that may sound similar to one's you know lol. It's always interesting to me because I don't hear the similarities, and so, it makes me ask the question: Do voice actors sound different if you can or can't understand the language? Love the content you two! Can't wait for S2

MADHOUSE

You asked about the voice actor for the Claw division leader character wearing the gas mask - they share the same voice as MEM-CHO the streamer from Oshi no Ko

Is streamable not working for anyone else or is it just me?

Enrico Gratzer

The fact that the body improvement club was based off of the gym bros ONE (the author) met when he was depressed and started working out. and Mob based on ONE himself make the story even more emotional for me.

iice woy

Can't wait for s2 it's incredible, probably one of my favourite seasons of anime up there with aots best for me

Callum

Awesome season one videos you two! Very fun and funny watching and listening to you two discuss. ^^

aeriss eon

You guys are gonna love season 2. Can't wait! Also, Teru was referring to Ritsu as "Little Brother" since he only knows him as Mob's lil bro.
