Luculia holding on to her hat when she brought Violet up, her losing her hat as a kid when Spencer first brought her, and then her holding her hand out to help him up at the end. In the first episode Violet touches the puppy with her face and her lips, and in episode 2 she does the same with the brooch because she can't feel with her hands. Every single piece of this anime is beautiful.

Just felt like a standard affair, far removed from general reality, Light Novel type story (might actually be LN IDK). Is the best episodes after? I cant fathom how 86 could be in the same basket as Violet Evergarden.

2023-06-27 18:37:18 +0000 UTCI hope you remember the following events in Ep 2. - the president said he had no money to treat Cattleya. - the president got the brooch from the black market somehow. - when Cattleya buys the president a drink, she surmises that he doesn't have money because he bought the brooch with his pay for the month. --- For Ep 3. You can tell she's coming to grips with life outside of the battlefield. She corrected from "mission" to "assignment" to just "a letter".

But in my experience even some official translations can have this issue, for example I picked up volume 1 of the Oshi no Ko English manga and there were some questionable choices in there when it came to translations. And the official prints of Re:Zero light novels are all around trash that seems like they ran thru google translate and pressed send

2023-06-27 12:21:28 +0000 UTCWell it was the official released blu-ray edition not a fanmade one but yeah not sure what they were trying to do. The one Carlie&Ange are watching is the official Netflix subtitle version. I checked back on one of the other reactors I watched and it said "I'm glad you're here for me. Thank you for everything." instead of what we have "I'm happy that you're alive. Thank you." He clearly doesn't say the "for everything" part at the end (arigatou). And Thank you for everything doesn't hit as hard as a simple sincere Thank you because it's not about a generalized everything. He's honestly been a pretty shitty brother recently but at least thank you for simply being alive. Which points also to the first sentence that is more about that he's just simply alive which is even what the sister initially said word for word "But all that doesn't matter, I'm really just glad he's alive". It's not about being thankful that the brother is there for sister which is very general but just the simple fact that he was able to return alive from war even if their relationship is broken. I usually don't get worked up on subtitles ever. But in this case, especially because the emphasis on an Auto Memory Doll's job to say the right words, the subtitles just gut it and kinda ruin the moment even though Violet was accurately able to relay the simple words that the sister wanted to say. I was so sad that my favorite reactor couldn't get the full viewing experience because of the subs so I'm glad C&A are watching this version. Also episode 10 doesn't hit the same on the Blu-ray edition due to the OST changes so also happy about that.

2023-06-27 00:33:35 +0000 UTCoh thank goodness they are watching this version. i believe the blu-ray edition has inaccurate subtitles to episode 3's letter (made the translation more complicated even though the Japanese script had very simple words which is why it hit so hard) and they changed the OST to one of the best episodes (I think 10)
