Moreover it's much easier for a sub watcher to watch a dub than a dub watcher to watch a sub. even if they don't act like it. Reactors that watch subs at the behest of the vocal minority of elitists limit their reach and those fans ultimately hurt the channel.

2023-06-25 14:54:53 +0000 UTC@Amrith, I’m the same. New anime I watch in Japanese, but if the anime is already out in English and it’s good I’ll watch that. There’s really only one reason… I only speak English. I don’t mind listening to other languages. Some of my favorite content is in my other languages. It’s just easier to immerse myself in the content when I can understand what everyone’s saying without an intermediary. Btw, this isn’t about a subbed vs dubbed preference, but instead an issue of preferred language. All anime is dubbed, and we all choose what language we want to hear the characters speak most. Say the Brazilian dub is better than the Japanese dub, you gonna miss out on that, porra?! The “subbed” fans are really just saying they don’t like listening to people speak English, which is totally fine, but that’s the language I speak so I like it. 👍🏾

2023-06-22 03:21:56 +0000 UTCSamir, tbf sub AND dub purists can be equally awful. If you prefer English, that's fine, but it's (usually) still objectively lower quality. Often times it seems like the dub VAs are provided with the script, but no tone/emotional direction. Or it could have something to do with adding less or more flavor to the script in order to match the mouths of the characters better. Leading to unnecessary wording or dialogue. People like what they like though, and we should just respect their choice to watch it in Japanese, since they've mentioned on numerous occasions that it's their preference.

This is by far the best animation I have ever seen in an anime other than movies. All that collective talent unnecessarily lost. Makes one angry.

2023-06-20 04:21:30 +0000 UTCthats the one thing i hope i can get across to them when it finally comes down to watching 86, they can skip the opening if they want, but the ending for 86 in every episode is integral; its different in every episode plus the music is immaculate which Ange would appreciate plus theres absolutely no spoilers in them plus there are important end credit scenes in almost every episode it just heightens the show even more so when watching the endings. (lots of +'s haha)

Everything they produce just oozes artistry and quality. Violet Evergarden was my first KyoAni show a few years ago and it remains one of my favorite anime to this day. I hope to see more of their shows on here and other reaction channels in the future! RIP to all the souls lost 2019 arson fire.

2023-06-19 21:42:15 +0000 UTCIt's animated by Kyoto Animation (or KyoAni) and it's one of the most acclaimed and beloved anime studios that left a huge impact on the 2000s anime fans with all-time classics like Clannad, K-On, Lucky Star, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and many more I could name. They also animated A Silent Voice movie that y'all watch. It's not one of the biggest studios out there but I've never seen and felt a more passionate studio that focuses on quality over quantity. They have a team of well-paid in-house trained salaried animators rather than relying on the pool of freelancers that almost all other studios do and then underpaying and overworking them. Treating animators well can give you some incredible animes, what a surprise! 😁 But in the summer of 2019, KyoAni suffered an arson massacre on its main studio building that left 36 of all 176 KyoAni employees dead and several dozens injured. It took the lives of many talented people and left the whole anime community around the world shocked and devastated when the news broke. As KyoAni was recovering from the tragedy. COVID happened, which delayed their projects even further. Some victims of the arson include Yasuhiro Takemoto, the director of Lucky Star and Haruhi mentioned above who also did the storyboard for a couple of episodes of Violet Evergarden, Mikiko Watanabe is the art director for Violet Evergarden. The visuals of Violet Evergarden can speak for how amazingly talented she is. Onto a piece of fortunate news though, Naoko Yamada, the director of A Silent Voice, survived the arson attack. KyoAni didn't deserve this tragedy for all the amazing work they do for the anime community. KyoAni will forever hold a special place in the hearts of anime fans.

I love how fluid their animation is for any show/movie that they produce, and this show has some amazing shots as well. I know this came out before the KyoAni arson incident, but glad to see they're still making shows

2023-06-19 19:18:05 +0000 UTCFinally! This is one of my favorite anime of all time. It gives a very beautiful video and audio experience. I remember being very emotionally attached to it. It's the kind of a show that makes you feel empty after you finish watching it... You got it right, the president is Zeke's VA XD, and the blonde guy is Toge from JJK (the one who speaks only with ingredients). Ishikawa Yui (Violet's VA) won the best female VA award in 2021 for her role as Violet in the 2nd movie, which is a must watch. She also does Mikasa as you noticed.

Violet Evergarden Movie is a must-watch because it's a sequel that wraps up the main story.
