He really wanted to make a difference in the world and Thors was mostly concerned about his own people, not that is anything wrong with that. I guess that's why he put all his money on Canute instead of Thors in the end.

Also, while Yukimura is anti-violence, it seems like we’re at the point in the story where we have to question if using violence is acceptable in some cases.

2023-06-17 22:24:46 +0000 UTCThat's a really good take! When Askeladd talked about Canute he said 'The more you're fascinated by a guy, the less likely it works out." while remembering Thors. He really held him in special regard. Canute wasn't his first choice for a lord he'd follow but at least he can still form him. Fittlingly Canute turned out like Askeladd, who admired Thors and hated himself.

Askeladd said something along these lines to Thorfinn/Canute: "Even if he were still alive, why would he leave a perfect place to help the people here?". Or something like that. I think he did have Thors as the closest to a true warrior and it was just Thors himself who didn't think had got there yet.

He fought Thors, he heard 'A true warrior doesn't need a sword' and he told Thorfinn with his final breath:"Become a true warrior, son of Thors." Apart from that, Einar is an awesome loyal friend and Arnheid's VA gives an incredible performance (it's gonna get even more intense!).

Thorfinn assuming the same stance he used with his daggers for vengeance but this time unarmed to prevent others' blood from being spilt with that theme and that image of his younger self overlapping give me chills. Good writing and pay-offs get me much more than Avenger level threats 😮

2023-06-17 16:04:05 +0000 UTC2x15: It was a small moment, but call back to Hordaland, the slave of Askeladd's uncle from S1 ep 8 was such a nice moment. Thorfinn remembering his forgotten dream through her words is something so beautiful and poetic. 2x16: Seeing Thorfinn simply raise his fists got me more hyped than any recent flashy climactic battle I’ve seen in anime 2x17: a little fact! Miklagard or Miklagård was the name used by the Nordic peoples to designate the Byzantine city of Constantinople ( Istanbul now ) when they had contact with the empire during its expansion through eastern Europe. apparently...snake had the experience of being a Varangian guard, an elite guard of some emperor or Byzantine expedition. In fact, his sword refers to that time in his life and also why he is so skilled + Also his sword is originally from middle eastern part according to Makoto Yukimura

Such a well crafted episode that will show how much you of your life you'll miss for all the battles happening. And the OST called "Rusty Sword" playing in the end when Gardar was reminiscing, so fucking powerful. This show is one of a kind. Very few shows that makes you cry for a guy you just barely met.
