Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Ep 27 REACTION!

This is late but I really did not understand the upset from this. This is one of my favorite episodes and kinda unfortunate to see so much focus just because they showed the mother as a kid. The dude is immortal. Is he just meant to be forever alone in his life. The mother as a child does not mean it was something creepy and messed up. They clearly didn't have any kind of actual relationship until she was an adult and it was her choice. It was a beautiful moment but was overshadowed by the thoughts of it having to be apparently creepy and groomer stuff? This is far from how weird and messy anime can be. If you keep watching anime you will hit a point to where you have to be mature enough to understand that a lot of the time anime doesn't hold back.

Wanna know a fun fact guys? The ladys that do the voice for Ed and Al in this anime in japanese also are the voices of an anime called "Hetalia". Both there are also like brother and sister representing Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

So happy you're enjoying the show as much as you are so far and in terms of getting invested after ep10 is understandable as apparently(I haven't read the manga or seen the original series) a lot of the content was covered much more in the original and the writers didn't want to cover the same content as much and glossed over much of the manga to progress the story.

Nah there was some attention on the weirdness of it when it came out. Especially when it is an anime only scene. It's wasn't like a super big deal or anything though. I think eventually people gave the benefit of the doubt and assumed there wasn't some grooming intention behind it.

Don't worry about getting guesses wrong. This show is great at mystery and subversion. It's supposed to trick you and figuring it out is a lot of the fun.

That reaction to Hohenheim and Trisha was certainly... unique. I haven't seen this anywhere before that this was such a point of controversy. Everyone else just always is fully absorbed into the mystery of the character and the identity of him/father.

I mean. it's kinda creepy but he has obviously been alive for a long time (this isn't a spoiler since it's been stated). at some point you're going to see your future love interest as a child, it is what it is.

The stuff in this episode was based on his memories though. The wiki also says they physically met at that time, too (how would he have an image of her head as a young child otherwise?). However, before people start flaming, I don't think it's meant to be creepy-implications at all. Pretty sure they could have easily fell in love as adults but he's known everyone in that village (?) for a while since he doesn't age (not a spoiler since Pinako also said as much in ep 20). And yeah, in the manga there wasn't this fever dream episode so i don't think it's meant to be a big deal and they just wanted to underscore his agelessness in contrast to showing Ed, Al and Trisha as changing in age. It was kind of weird though and I remember some of the discussion when this episode first aired lol. With how good the series became, especially in the second half, it just kind of got washed away in other discussions but I've seen it pop up from time to time lol.

Actually, almost no reactor realized that everything was inside Hohenheim's head until the last moments of the episode, so you did extremely well.

I had the same feelings as Carlie with Trisha and Hoenheim, but in the manga they actually meet when she is an adult. This episode is just like a fever-dream for Hoenheim, not stuff that actually happened.
