I'm going back to rewatch some of these reactions and...I can't believe I didn't comment on this before, but Ange's pure and palpable disdain at Olmar when he says "You've disgraced yourself..and your family..." still has me dying 🤣 I need this to be a gif or meme or something

2023-06-02 04:34:56 +0000 UTC- What I really like about the writing for Vinland Saga is how almost every character serves to illustrate a different idea Yukimura sensei is try to get across. You rarely come across a character with screen time that does not serve as an illustration of a human concept, and they are all very different. Even when he is portraying something distasteful, it is not done with biased commentary as much as it is with a perceptive and wary eye - Regarding ''Bug-eye'' Thorfinn I think its safe to assume that while Leif was looking for Thorfinn he encountered Bug-Eye who also matched Thorfinn's description. He may have grown attached to him and decided to adopt him.

It's not even among 'best anime' or 'best tv' episode for me, I think it's among my all time favorite pieces of media / narrative I've ever engaged with & it honestly means a lot to me personally. I feel like I could confidently suggest this show to anyone regardless of whether they are anime fan or not because of the quality of this episode & some others later in the season. I've watched y'all's reaction 3+ times alone lol 😬
