Episode 22

that final scene, when ed takes the gun from winry and says that ICONIC line is one of my favourite from the whole series. but that is not the only reason why THIS is one of the best episodes of the anime. we get to know scar's backstory- which will change EVERYTHING. we learn his brother died after giving up his own arm to save scar's life... which is a perfect parallel to ed giving up his own arm to rescue his brother's soul and tie it into an armor. the brotherhood anime is brotherhooding (?) and all of what i mentioned before ties even more when ed puts himself between scar and winry. he sees his own brother again in ed's eyes and, worst of all, he sees himself in the position of kimblee. he has become what he hated, going from victim to perpetrator as the chain of hatred demands. i'm sorry if none of this makes sense, i'm a bit sleepy and it's hard to put all my thoughts in order but i have SO MANY THOUGHTS about this episode.

Every character is so damn real in this show.

Love the discussion!

Roboton

The fact that i never thought about that

Ed taking the gun from Winry is definitely one of the more iconic scenes from this anime… also you’d be surprised how much of the dialogue is dub-original. Yes it’s less accurate but they honestly made it way better lol

Great post discussion!

Just a heads up: you were asking about where the old man that serves Ling was, and I’m pretty sure at this point in time he was still escorting Ross back to Xing

Scar surely didn't even know he was killing the doctors that saved him. The guy was having a PTSD, full of adrelina as Carlie said, and just lost his mind. Didn't even know what he was doing.

Yeah, I cried when I first saw this episode and when I heard the start of the ending song 'let it all out, let it all out', I just 😭😭 with Winry..

Last scene is one of my favorites in the series, love the "these hands are meant to give life" quote. Just another example of how this show is so human, for lack of a better word. The characters, even though they are super powered compared to normal people, are all so human, multifacted, and complex. Scar's journey is probably the best in the series, and you are beginning to see the start of it here. Just putting yourself in his shoes you understand why he's doing what he did. But he's already starting to realize the meaning and lessons that his brother and master are trying to convey. The author of the series just has such a way of making the reader/watcher care about the characters, even if they start out hard to sympathize with
