Steins Gate Episodes 22 & 23 REACTIONS!

Thanks for being patient for these! We got around to filming them earlier this week. Some really really good episodes. Really loved ep 22 🥰 Here are the links!

Episode 22

Episode 23

Comments

I know im 2 years late to the party but please someone tell me they watched at least the movie! They HAVE to watch it!

Edge

Episode 22 is such a masterpiece, a worthy emotional climax, with the next couple of episodes feeling more like a denouement. Really enjoyed your reaction to episode 22, felt like your really got it in a way many reactors don't. Episode 23 manages something I didn't think I'd experience in a time travel story by this point: an original idea. I love the solution to the attractor field.

Quitch

(Spoiler sorry ) Hi! Just as a note to my comment on your last video, Okabe's 1st kiss was not with Moeka ;) (Spoiler)

Slyfish66

Makes me cry every time when she bursts through the door.

The Great Santini

ESPECIALLY for that romance.

The Great Santini

After watching your ep22 reaction: You guys kinda gaslighted yourselves because moving beyond the 1% barrier WAS supposed to fix the future ("world in peril") but... hence the post-credits cliff-hanger. You guys kinda tricked yourselves into thinking that WASN'T the case. Also, "Uncle" can just refer to a very close family-friend of your parents, right? Doesn't HAVE to mean by blood. About Makise being shocked by her father's reaction: She hasn't had contact with him for like 7 years or something, right? That's enough time for a dude to go full psycho, I'd say. Also, the research she was presenting him with pre-attack was like... the ultimate piece of research.. the ultimate "You suck dad and my intelligence dwarfs yours." Also... I HIGHLY recommend the movie if you like the Okabe/Kurisu love-story (which is IMO the best part of the show). HEAVY Kurisu focus.

The Great Santini

I like the theory of Suzuha killing Makise back then. That way, this time she would have died by Okarin because they prevented the first death and it's inevitable, just like with Mayuri. Although I don't think that was really the case because there are a couple of things that don't sit well with me, those being that Suzuha's go-to weapon is her gun, so it's weird that she would stab Makise, being messier and all. Also that she had plenty of opportunities to kill her after that and she didn't. But still like the theory.

KaijinGarou

I like how Okarin said "I don't care about 5.4 billion people. I want to save Kurisu". That's how writing works for the audience and the writer sure got it.

KaijinGarou

Haha Carlie, in your defense, time travel usually doesn't make sense in media anyway. Cool concept but commonly believed to be completely impossible by experts, so don't feel too bad for not understanding something that makes no sense to begin with. Terminator is a mess from start to finish, no matter how cool it is. Time travel, plot trouble.

KaijinGarou

So Makise changed her mind from making their goodbye as painless as she could to as painful as she could 🤣. I don't know if I should hate her or love her for that.

KaijinGarou

Makise is so cute when she mimics Okabe.

KaijinGarou

22 2.20: Carlie's face of "wait, what we doing here?" was so funny 🤣🤣. I admit the panting after running was a bit too sexual there 🤣

KaijinGarou

Love your steins gate reactions so much! hope you do the movie as well after episode 25

Shivam Bansal

Loving all the reactions and discussions! ❤️

Russell Gambardella

You came back! thanks so much for supporting us here

Carlie & Ange

So this being like my 5th or 6th time through the show probably, I think it’s supposed to be implied that originally, makisa was stabbed by her father. And when Okarin went back it just ended the same way with him doing it. I forget how Exactly thing play out later but I’m excited to see it again. I feel like maybe I’ve figured it out before, but have forgotten, or if I thought I had it figured out, but didn’t and only noticed it now. Idk, enjoying the reactions!

Skellyp

And I’m caught up

Skellyp

Agreed, the dub does help a lot because you are concentrating more on the visuals and exact timestamps instead of keeping up with the subs. On the other hand the Netflix dub got their math wrong in a couple of instances that threw me for a loop. I had to switch to sub for those scenes to find out if the error in math was intentional or just an error. Turned out to be the latter.

Amrith

I kinda thought the same, that no father would do that to their daughter, out of spite and egotistical pride. But all the clues are there that he is an emotionally abusive asshole that unfortunately Kurisu-tina put up on a pedestal and she looks up to him, the Doctor is her father after all. Then when I started watching true crime shows and investigations, like Forensic Files or The First 48, you got some truly vile, stupid, egotistical, insane and self-destructive people out there in real life. If Dr. Nakabachi wanted to plagiarize Kurisu-tina's work to regain his status in the scientific community and his standing within society, and if he is that egotistical, if he is that resentful of his smarter daughter, the daughter he blames for his misfortune, yeah he would murder his daughter to keep her quite. BUT the main reason we get the 1-100 jump leading up to it, it's that this was the final reveal of shock. Had we gotten to know the Doctor beforehand, even in the smallest of scenes, we would have gotten the clue of his resentment and that he was the killer. Personally I loved Ange and Carlie's comments and theory that Suzuha was likely the one that killed Kurisu-tina in the original timeline.

David Caine

Oh and I forgot to point out, if no one else has already, when Kurisu-tina is "leaving" Japan and she throws Okabe the Dr. Pepper, she mouths something to Okabe as he turns. "Sayonara." There are a bunch of ways to say good-bye, and "sayonara" kinda means final good-bye, good-bye forever. Kurisu-tina really intended for that to be the end, but she regretted even more not telling Okabe that she loved him too, and so she came back, just before the timeline shift.

David Caine

I saw steins gate on your you tube video, I’m hear for that, shal start from the beginning

Skellyp

If they ever do a rewatch, they should watch the dub now that they have seen the incredible performances of the original sub. The sub was worth it for the sunovabitch scene alone. 😂 But Mamoru Miyano truly slays as Okabe. The dub is one of the best ones out there, they really make it their own. I also now suspect that had Carlie and Ange watched the dub first, the transition into the show would have been smoother for the first half of the show.

David Caine

Yes, and Carlie needs to put on a white Lab Coat too, might as well go all out.

David Caine

She needs to also imitate his laugh for the last episode, come on Carlie, please

Grey Cat

Lmao loved carlie's giddy reaction to hououin. From insufferable dork with a stupid laugh to punching the air at his return

wicecakes

you guys need to check this episode in dub, especially the video from future okabe. ITS EPIC

Shreyas Sali

Guys movie is highly recommended at this point

AMAN

This is awesome. We’ll have to check out ep 1 again when we’re finished!

Carlie & Ange

Very exciting for us. That was a long time coming!

Carlie & Ange

The uncle thing is just because Daru and Okabe are good friends. So hes like "Uncle Okabe" who isnt really your uncle

Zana

I agree. Just some fun details to examine nonetheless

Flippnote

Yes, but when the time came for the actual stabbing it still felt a bit too drastic of a 1-100 jump with little to no actual texture in the beats leading up to it. I had the same reaction for that part the first time I watched it almost a decade ago. It needed a little bit more restraint and some build up to it, or we needed stronger indication that his dad was actually super abusive and would jump to violence like that. But eh, I don't think it's the biggest deal. It served the plot fine.

Veya

In the first episode, the very, very confusing episode because of all the disparate elements, there are several foreshadowing bits.... 1. Okabe and Mayuri go to the Radio Hall building, and he explains that the conference is about Time Travel Machine science. They and all the people feel the building shake, like an earthquake. 2. Okabe goes all the way up to the roof, and as he opens the door he barely notices some machine standing there, but there is a "worker" there signaling to stand back. That was Suzuha. Okabe is immediately interrupted by a phone call. 3. That was Mayuri, who had no money for an Oopa. Okabe "plays" that only he can buy it, but gifts it to Mayuri anyway, not knowing it's the rare metal type. 4. At the conference, Mayuri texts Okabe that she lost the Oopa. 5. Okabe interrupts Dr. Nakabachi because the Doctor was plagiarizing ideas from the infamous John Titor. Kurisu, also at the conference, whisks Okabe away to make him cease. 6.. Kurisu-tina tells Okabe outside the conference that she just met him minutes before and he was babbling like a mad man. That he had a distressed look on his face and seemed like he wanted to tell her something. Okabe doesn't know what the hell she is talking about, neither do we. He runs away. 7. Okabe receives a strange email, a video file that opens to just static. 8. Okabe meets up again with Mayuri, and she tells him the Oopa had her name on it and is worth a lot of money. They are interrupted by a blood-curling scream. 9. Okabe goes up to see Kuriusu murdered. 10. Okabe and Mayuri leave the Radio Hall building. As they are walking away, he texts Daru that the scientist Makise had been murdered. This causes the change in timelines. When Okabe looks up the top of the Radio Hall building, he sees the "satellite" crashed into the building, not as he had seen the machine safely on top of the building with Suzuha nearby a little while before. 11. Cue in the credits. The credits for these episodes 23 and 24 are a bit different in visuals. The major change is the song, as we get the second half of it that truly describes the plight and journey and effort by Okabe to save his friends, to change the world, to stop the SERN dystopia, to stop World War 3, to truly live the delusions and the play-acting he was doing at the beginning, except his intentions are noble. If you guys can, watch the openings and the closing songs with subtitles.

David Caine

Yeah so the thing with the dad *was* a bit implied when Kurisu talked about her past in the first half of the series but I agree the actual execution for the dad's outburst was a bit wonky and hammy. Felt a little too hallmark/life time. But I think it's a small flaw and the ending of the episode was still good. And yeah ep 22 and I'd say the final ep are the two best episodes of the anime.

Veya

oh btw the 'Uncle' thing is just how people in some Asian countries call older people, something like 'Mister'

Martina

your love for anime romances cheers me up every time, it's so wholesome. happy for your first anime kiss!

Martina

I also recommend both. But I will say, countrary to some people I would not recommend steins;gate 0. I thought it was very forgettable so unless you guys really want some more Steins;Gate content, don't watch it.

Grey Cat

Love Ange's instant reaction to seeing his first kiss in anime: "I love anime, very satisfying, that's great"

Grey Cat

i highly recommend you guys watch the movie and/or the OVA after episode 24! I would love for you guys to continue this journey with Steinsgate 0, but just know that u would need to rewatch an alternate version of Episode 23 ( i only ever found it on youtube under “Steinsgate Episode 23B”). Regardless, it was fun watching your reactions/theories 👏🏻👏🏻

Allan Samano

The more I think about it, I really can't answer that question. Tucker is the obvious answer but he still loved that semblance of his daughter that was left. Kurisu's dad was just pure vengeance for "attacking his research". I am more attuned to a dad killing a daughter with a knife stab as opposed to turning her into a beast and keeping her around. Both are vile acts. One just seems more common than the other when none of them should exist in the first place.

Amrith

As a person who hasn't seen steins gate 0, stein gate episode 23 is one of the greatest pieces of time travel sci-fi to ever exist. The way it intricately ties every loop out there and eventually opens the gate was bone chilling. I told carlie a long time ago , why stop at 1% and here we are.

Amrith

The end of episode 23 hyped me so much everytime. So who is the worst dad of the year Kurisu's dad or Shou Tucker from FMA ?

Clément

We finally got the kiss from our tsundere couple. So rewarding. Carlie basically yelling "FAKE NEWS!" in the first half of ep 23 😂 Can't wait for next episode

MADHOUSE

instead of a lot of details about Kurisu's dad leading up to the reveal, we've gotten slight hints that he's quite abusive through Kurisu's actions throughout the show. Examples being the phone call on the roof and when Okabe yells at her causing her to shrink down and cry which is normally quite uncharacteristic for her

Flippnote

I'm excited for you to see the ending. I hope you do Episode 25 (the OVA) and the movie too! I'm sure others have said this, but if you're planning to watch Steins;Gate 0, there's an alternate version of Episode 23, called 23(β). It's not necessary to rewatch it in full, but it has an alternate ending that leads into the events of 0, and it's pretty necessary for the story. Also, Steins;Gate 0 really expects you to remember everything that happened in Steins;Gate. There's a lot of things it doesn't go out of its way to re-explain. Thanks for checking out the series!

HorriblyUnoriginal

OMG I'm not ready for this
