Carlie & Ange
2023-04-04 21:21:05 +0000 UTCCanute and the priest saw firsthand how cruel the world can be when they saw those 62 villagers die, that is why the priest doubts God's love in past chapters. But Canute goes further and begins to think about whether it is possible to achieve that love. According to the Bible, God tests us so that we can find his love, but Canute loses all hope when he sees that many people will never be able to reach it. This realization leads him to act rebelliously towards God and his goal becomes to establish paradise on earth, he wants everyone to be able to find the love that was lost.

2023-04-04 13:07:11 +0000 UTCIm sure someone else will expand upon it further and explain it more but what the priest is talking about is quite literally "unconditional love". When love is spoken about in the bible in that context, its talking about "loving" everyone equally. its entirely true what he's talking about in real life as well as hard as it could be to understand sometimes. Love in that sense is literally unattainable, we unconsciously love certain people more than others. Thats why you would care about your parents, spouse, children, brothers and sisters more than just a random person you walk past one time. or even to more of an extent why we love those people over say a murderer, when we should love them all the same. We are uncapable of loving both to the same extent so hes very right in his thoughts the true definition of unconditional love to not discriminate. Thats why he's saying once we die then and only then can we truely love to that extent. Its very biblical in that sense and also why they showed the apple with the original sin to show Adam and Eve gave up that "love" for "wisdom" and even though we are told to show kindness to all, it doesnt happen therefore Canute says he wont seek salvation anymore and strive for creating his own paradise like Heaven on Earth himself. Hope that long explaination helps Carlie and even Ange as well.

2023-04-04 08:27:49 +0000 UTCCanute has entered the chat 😂 This episode always gives me chills. Obviously a huge turning point for the series, but also impeccable parallelisms between all of the scenes in terms of meaning.
