2023-03-12 17:53:28 +0000 UTC(edit: nvm they got it in the next episode) Askeladd killed that solder because he was going to the main force (the one with the King) to notify them that Prince Canute has been captured and so that they can regroup with the main force and retaliate against Thorkell and save the prince. He also asked Askeladd and his men to come with him. But Askeladd wouldn't get anything from that. Askeladd, being the mercenary that he is, wants to capture Prince Canute himself in order to trade him to either their King or to the English.
