Goddamn Thors, it's Vander all over again (and Carlie was bang on with her prediction) with Thorfinn being towed away with Askeladd. Even though Thors won the duel, it was time for his loseland saga to begin. Dont quote me on this but I heard Thors did 100 pushups, 100 squats and 100 situps a day but skipped out on the 10km run (he only did 5).

The things I outlined in my comment are strictly about the contents of what's happened so far. I also believe they DID figure it out themselves, as I mentioned, they were on the nose with certain elements already. Just giving my take on how I read certain scenes, that's all.

I'll preface this by saying that this is a very thought provoking anime, and I think it's definitely important for us to ask ourselves what is the right and wrong thing to do here, and decide for ourselves! To start, with your mention of Askeladd and why he asked Thors to be their leader, I think this is a really intriguing scene. It seems laughable on the surface, which is definitely fair, but I have watched this scene few times over and I think it goes a bit deeper than just him messing around. You may have noticed that when Askeladd asks that question to Thors, Askeladd's men are not laughing. If you are attentive to Askeladd's facial expressions, they elude to the fact that he may not be joking, he looks to be contemplating what he just asked, and is wrestling with whether or not this was a good question/decision. It's possible that the reason he plays it off like it was a joke, is because he might have realized this will make him look bad/weak in front of his men (and also probably because it was a super left field question). It's also worth mentioning that Askeladd does appear to respect Thors, and because of the person Askeladd knows Thors to be, is may be the reason he thought to ask Thors this seemingly random question in the first place. About Thors not killing Askeladd, you both were on the nose with this I think. He doesn't kill Askeladd because Thors' beliefs/principles were more important than his life. If Thors had chose to kill Askeladd, this situation could have also ended a lot worse, with more lives lost than were necessary. This I don't think is as simple as kill or be killed for Thors, this is about showing Thorfinn what a "true warrior" really is. It's also a really interesting detail, that when Askeladd agrees to the terms of the duel, that Askeladd has to withdraw his men if Thors wins, he initially says "I Askeladd, son of Olaf, swear it in the name of Odin", but does not honor the terms. However, when Thors asks him to honor his word AFTER the duel (and after his death ofc), Askeladd says "In the name of my ancestor Artorius, i'll withdraw my soldiers immediately", and now does actually honor the terms. Askeladd is a very intriguing character. I tried to keep it light, but failed miserably, apologies my friends :')
