Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Surprise announcement everyone!

We’ve decided that when we finish One Punch Man, we will be starting FMAB! It came so close to Vinland Saga on the poll and we’ve also since seen a lot of disappointment that it narrowly lost. So we thought we’d pick it up anyway!

We hope you all are excited to start a bit of a longer series with us. We still have 14 episodes of One Punch Man to get through, but you can expect to see it as soon as we finish!

The next Patreon Poll will be as soon as we catch up to Vinland Saga ❤️

I hope they can watch it in sub because dub would be really annoying for me to watch

Shade1410

Hopefully you guys watch the dub for FMA:B. Most people would agree. One of the best dubs made.

CandykOh

YES! ITS ACTUALLY THE BEST ANIME!

Ross

While I agree the dub is better than a lot of other dubs, I still prefer the sub

NanoPIX

sub still better

souma shou

it was a personal reason i think

souma shou

Ruin it? One of the best dubs ever

Jordan Nunerley

YAY! must watch this one in dub though :D

Jaidan Brown

Dub all the way on this one. And I'm someone who watches everything subbed these days. Both are great though.

dotti

watch in Original please. english dub can never express the same emotions on the same level as japanese... especially since its such a long anime. please dont ruin it with dub xd

DUB ALL THE WAY

Mr Joker

Eh, I think brotherhood is good enough at the intro. You aren't wrong though. I just think it would be too confusing to swap between. That's like a second or third watch choice

Justin Yong

Vinland Saga is excellent but fma is a wonderful choice. It is a classic. Just make sure to do the dub.

Justin Yong

Chernobyl is really rough indeed. They just have to watch Naked gun or Monty python and the holy grail or that god awful Bret Lee bollywood Rom-com that he did to get their spirits up. All these shows are solid recommendations. I am watching White Lotus season 2 now, around episode 5. Maybe too on the point when it comes to writing, compared to the first season, but still enjoying it thoroughly.

Amrith

Looking forward to it! FMA:B is probably the only anime where I consider the dub just as good as the sub. So if you were ever to watched an english dubbed anime, this one would be it. Also, if you're beginning to watch longer running series, I heavily recommend that you watch Hunter x Hunter 2011. Without a doubt my favourite anime of all time. It's also in the top 5 highest rated TV-series on MAL I think. At least it used to be, back when I used the site. It's also a great show to react to, in terms of events happening, that are perfect for reaction content. Not as much as AoT, but still a ton of crazy shit to react to, especially after the first 38-ish episodes, which basically set up all our characters, their motivations, the world, and an small arc teaching us all the basics of the magic system. Imo, HxH def has the best crafted magic system in all of anime, maybe all of fiction. So I really hope, that you'll end up giving it a chance! Sorry for the long comment, but I'm passionate about Hunter x Hunter god dammit.

Love the Chernobyl recommendation, but Ooooof....the subject matter is rouuugh. (I'd looove it) I wonder if we can throw in something lighthearted somewhere down the line tho too. Another thriller is Ozark - but that one is longer! Also - White Lotus is satire but still has its drama

Rabbid Dawg

I am so glad you picked FMAB. I have only seen FMA and I would love to watch the show along with you guys. I would suggest one thing though, after The Last Of Us keep one live action show part of your schedule. It can just be an episode a week or 2 per week but it will break up the monotone nature of starting to recognize anime tropes and dip into some good drama once in a while. Because the two of you are into The Last of Us now, I would highly recommend Chernobyl (same series creator) and it's only 6 episodes or even Breaking Bad which is a much longer watch but worth the time. Btw, if you are enjoying OPM, Mob Psycho 100 is its natural predecessor and is a great show to watch.

Amrith

That's crazy

JacksOnion Lee

They watched the 1st episode of Death Note and dropped it after

Night Sterling

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a decent/fun pick. Hope you enjoy watching it. ^^ Death Note can be very stressful to watch for me anyway. Mob Psycho 100 is one of my all time faves esp Season 1 & 2, and I think it's somewhat good for you delaying watching Mob at a much later date; but hopefully you do and when you do I can only hope you find it enjoyable and fun to watch too. ^^

aeriss eon

no one vote for Death Note, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure or Mob Psycho 100??? Thats crazy

JacksOnion Lee

I agree on this one!

imvirals

They can vote

souma shou

yessssssss

souma shou

All right, nice!

Roboton

You guys absolutely have to do the dub. It is regarded as the best dub in anime. It's just fantastic!! The voice actors kill every role

Lijnaito2021 !

You're going to absolutely love the show!!

poisonivybag

The dub is actually one of the few really decent ones out there but watch what you want :D

D Gaijin

OMG YESSSS

David

i do think C&A actually have more fun with longer series. especilly those with deep story line like AOT

Chen Chen

Just need 86 now and I’ll be happy forever

Aaron Wright

To add: unless FMA deviates a lot in the beginning until the cut-off part - in a way that might make FMAB confusing - you're not missing a lot in FMAB and it should be okay to transition. Not sure which episodes to transition from though.

Roboton

Original fma episode 25 is the last episode of the original series rhat follows the manga, after that it becomes original story. So you swap there to fma brotherhood episode 11 which is the same point in the story as original episodes 25

Aaron Wright

Yeeeeess! I'm so glad that you two are reacting to this! It's such a great series and I might agree with "Aaron Wright" above if what's being said is what I think it is; FMAB starts differently to the manga and honestly isn't as good at introducing new watchers to the concepts of the show as the beginning parts of the manga is. If I remember it right, fullmetal alchemist (the other series, not the brotherhood one) does the beginning parts similar to the manga until a certain point when it deviates entirely. I think what Aaron is suggesting is a transition between series to get an experience closer to the manga, which I'd also suggest: watch until a certain point in the FMA series, then switch over to FMAB when FMA starts deviating.

Roboton

Not to spoil anything: Is that the transition you need to make to keep more in line with the manga?

Roboton

They sort of rush the first arcs in brotherhood assuming you’d seen the original anime or read the manga

Aaron Wright

You should watch the first full metal alchemist till episode 25, then swap over to full metal alchemist brotherhood episode 11

Aaron Wright

Please do DUB, the dub is perfect for this show!

Enrico Gratzer

Please don’t do SUB!, I’m a BIG sub supporter but English is the way for FMAB, the sub for it just didn’t feel right
