Also, regarding being game-accurate, we also skip right over the whole Robert thing and I appreciate that because you can get rid of that subplot without much loss and we're not playing missions so the stuff that is fun in the game would be a slog for a viewing experience.

2023-02-05 23:48:40 +0000 UTCI like to think of it as alternate universe Bill where he was actually a person open to love while in the game Bill is just a miserable bastard and Ellie sasses him, Joel is exhausted with him and just wants what they came for, and Frank has had enough of being around him and decides to just say goodbye in a hurtful way.

2023-02-04 22:23:24 +0000 UTCI don't mind the xhange from the game. Gave the characters more depth, was amazingly written, plus it helps close off the Bill story. Ange said it best with how it will explain the full arsenal they now have. If anything I kind of wish Bill survived to have that interaction with everyone. But that probably would have dragged out a different plot.

2023-02-03 07:08:47 +0000 UTCThe episode shows the top floor bedroom's open window in the end rather than the ground floor guest bedroom that he rolled him into, since Frank was in a wheel chair. It shows a finality of their characters because how every thing mimicked their first day in their final moments except for that. There is no body to pull back to in that floor because it wasn't there. That window shot was reminiscing about memories from before, in the room above. This was an episode about love amongst hopelessness, a bastion of hope, and they nailed it. So, sorry to break your hope, but that shot finalizes Bill or Frank aren't coming back.

Bill and Joel are cut from the same cloth and it was nice to see what Joel could be if he chooses to open up - here we're given a look at probably the only pair of people in this apocalypse *living* rather than simply surviving. Joel was reminded of his failure with Sarah when sneaking out with Ellie from Boston and the letter in this episode reminds him of Tess. Does he want to be the guy that's been getting by, alive, with this mindset, or does he have the capacity to attach himself to someone again? This eps puts us at the crux of Joel finally open to the possibility of feeling for someone else again imo. Great episode and a sucker punch to the gut.

Re-thinking the whole episode:how sure are we that Bill is indeed dead? They at least made the ending in a way that it wouldn't be to hard to bring him back right? Don't get me wrong the ending is fitting as it is, but it is a possibility imo. . 🤷♂️ Any any other show I would have almost been sure he would make a comeback, but oc I don't know where this story wents.... Banger episode for sure! 👍
