2022-11-27 11:54:08 +0000 UTCMany were inspired after viewing Nightmare before Christmass and I would say it helped push back the corporate trend to market christmass at ridiculously early in the year. I mean before this film came out, a christmass zeitgeist was being sneaked in around October 1st with a section of items in a drugstore here, an aisle of related items in a supermarket store there. After this film it firmly drew the cultural line - at least in the U.S.- to after thanksgiving. So now, thankfully, all the lights go up immediately the weekend after thanksgiving. Sure, this puts pressure on the bloated relaxing and digesting bellies of fathers and boyfriends to stop their sportswatching and actually have to move to set up decorations but it's a small price to pay for the previous giddy anticipation of Fall that comes with the cooling weather in October and the thrill of allowed cosplay and hijinks that halloween provides
