Demon Slayer Poll 2:

The second poll is concerning the Season 2 episode 1 debate. By Season 2 Episode 1, we are referring to the Mugen Train arc NOT the entertainment district arc. We personally don't have a preference for this as we have NO idea what is about. So it's up to you all as to whether or not we watch it before or after the Mugen Train movie/arc.

Comments

Seems many prefer you watch episode 1 in the same order that most of us were forced to watch it so let me reiterate that it was always intended to be watched before the movie. Technically, it's just a non-canon, filler episode that was tacked on to entice us movie-goers to check out the TV format. It makes little difference if you even watch it at all but, that said, it was actually created to serve as a simple introduction that helps enrich the events of the movie and, in hindsight, seems like a much improved lead-in. By arbitrarily watching episode 1 out of order, you're going to unnecessarily interrupt the flow of the story. What I mean by that is this episode seamlessly transitions into the movie which then seamlessly transitions into season 2...the next arc picks up exactly right where the movie leaves off and so what's the point of disrupting that? Keep in mind, those of us who watched the movie first had to wait an extended period for the TV release and so this episode came across as a pleasant call-back when DS returned, but make no mistake, it's undoubtedly a prelude. As others have stated, UFOtable wouldn't have ordered it episode 1 of the Mugen Train Arc if they intended for it to be watched afterwards. That's just not a careless mistake that any company would ever make on the Blu-Ray. Still, the choice is yours obviously...just making sure you guys were crystal clear on that.

Because it was released after the movie and written and animated with that fact in mind. It feels so much better watching episode 1 after the movie.

Mason Bradford

I don't understand why people are saying after this is literally a prequel that goes straight into the movie. It makes no sense to watch it afterwards because you wouldn't watch season 2 episode 2 through 7 and then watch episode 1. Would you?? No because it comes before the movie

Lijnaito2021 !

No..it's cause watching the movie makes much more sense.

Anthony Garcia

It's easy. It's because of the emotion it brings to the movie. If you watched the episode first then you wouldn't even think hard about why he said "UMAI" at the end of the first episode. Watching the movie first will make the episode much more meaningful knowing what he is about to go through. That's why people say it's the right choice, cause it is.

Anthony Garcia

>I think the only reason why people recommend episode 1 after the movie is because of the movie release schedule, No, it's the least reason why people recommend ep1 after the movie. It's about the depth of emotion we'd feel. It's bigger when it's after the movie. That's what they are saying

Saku

I agree with Kim here. I think E1 does get you more connected with the backstory.

Charles Malo

Honestly, I believe the reactions would be the same regardless. Better flow if one watched the movie 2nd. But I get it the other way around as well. I'm ok either way. 😁

Chong Kim

personally i think that makes the emotional impact harder honestly

Romang

Eh, you can do either order but I found that s2 ep1 hit harder after watching the movie. Just my opinion.

Justin Yong

I think it’s because it’s how it was released initially. It was movie, THEN season 2 began with episode 1. I get your point, but I think the best majority is stuck on watching it the way it was released.

Derek Ortega

Looks like my thoughts are in the minority according to the votes. You should watch Season 2 ep.1 before you watch the movie. If you watch the movie and the ep.1, you'd be like why did they do this?!!

Chong Kim

Yeah thats what im thinking

RP

It feels like people just don't want to wait 1 post for the movie lol

Paint

Personally, I think either way of watching it would enhance your experience. I don't think it matters too much, mostly preference. But of course, that's what this poll is for!

Gabriel Barott

This poll makes no sense because in the season the "movie" is split into episodes AFTER episode 1, clearly for a reason

Arshdeep Singh

Like...season 2 episode 1 literally ends where the movie starts....I'm just confused haha

Shawn

I also honestly don't get this poll. Season 2 episode 1 set me up SO WELL to enjoy the movie. It gives you so much to go on for why the movie will be more impactful. For someone who suggested watching the episode after - without spoiling anything can you give me a little context as to why?

Shawn

I don't understand this poll at all. The Season 2 Mugen Train episodes up to ep 7 IS the Movie itself just rereleased in episode format with a little bit extra story in the first episode. But then there is Season 2 Entertainment district which is the proper sequel to the Mugen train. It's a little confusing mainly because they for some reason decided to rerelease the movie in episodic format.

ShadowQrow

@carlie and @ange I looked it up online and the actual recommendation i had was to watch episode 1 of season 2 FIRST and then watch the MOVIE, which is what I did. I followed those instructions personally and i personally was glad with the flow of info i had from episode 1 which made characters have more backstory for the movie and better emotional connection with the storyline. I think the only reason why people recommend episode 1 after the movie is because of the movie release schedule, but when it comes to movies ans OVAs,. sometimes they release movies earlier but intended to be in a specific order (like dragon ball z movies). Personally i think that watching epi 1 first before movie made the best chronological sense in terms of timeline in the anime vs time of movie release but ultimately i don't think it's going to ruin the show for you if you watched those 2 media pieces in any other, as long as you watch BOTH.
