Parasite MOVIE REACTION!

I am a bit late to the party, but yes the son bought the house is only in their plan. even the director confirm it would take hundred of years for the son to buy the house with the Korean basic salary. (unless if the son manage to marry a rich royal heiress ๐Ÿ˜)

These are a couple of my favorite video essays about the film: https://youtu.be/AvO8-925Edc https://youtu.be/ma1rD2OP85c https://youtu.be/ZF6O93noHRc

Guys... lol this is no common "k-drama". It's one of the best films of the last decade, by one of our best living directors (Bong Joon Ho)! A brilliantly layered masterpiece in its depth and social themes, and also a masterclass in visual storytelling. I know i'm a few months late to this reaction, but I urge you to look back and analyse this film further if you get the chance. The more you look into it, the more brilliance you will find in it.

The fact that you guys ended up feeling bad for the rich family is why I really like this movie. So often when Hollywood makes movies about class conflict they present very simplistic caricatures of the rich and poor, with the rich typically being evil villains and the poor being virtuous heroes. I feel like this movie deliberately blurs these lines to present a more realistic and nuanced picture, which is much more interesting imo.

"Did he actually buy that house?" It would be an exaggeration to say; not in a million years, but it would basically be the truth. Someone of his social status, and the jobs he would land... The song in the credits was supposed to be titled '564 years' as an indicator of how long it would take before he could buy the house on his likely salary.

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing those. It did seem like a movie packed with a lot of meaning

Great movie and great reactions guys, really enjoyed it. There is so much to unpack with this, it's such a clever, well made movie. If I remember correctly, the scene where the previous housekeeper rings the doorbell is the midpoint of the movie, from when there's a complete tonal shift in the storytelling. Also the use of staircases to denote when they're going up/down from poverty-land to rich-land. There's a lot more, I can't remember it all l. Just great work all around.

Oh I can't wait for some free time to catch this with y'all! I haven't seen it yet!

Carlie's reaction to some parts of this movie was gold. I'd love to see you guys react to horror films like The Conjuring and Hereditary.

If you haven't already seen it, 'Memento' (2000) is an amazing neo-noir mystery thriller film by Christopher Nolan. Its nonlinear structure will get you thinking and is great for discussion. I hope you guys will consider it for the next golden jellie movie. Cheers ๐Ÿ˜Š

amazing film

Can I recommend Berserk as a movie to watch? Itโ€™s dark fantasy anime. Manga is considered to be among the best out there. And itโ€™s a trilogy. ๐Ÿ’—
