But we don't know these reasons yet. His descision SEEMS to be rushed and not logical at this point. He seems rather surprised when re-marrying is brought to his mind. I understand that because I really believe he loved his wife.I guess it is fair to say he wasn't making plans for his next bride for six months. So his decision was made in a much shorter time. He asked members of the council for their advice and they made quite clear what the logical decision would be (excl. Otto of course). So why did he decide otherwise? A good reason would be him to be in love with Alicent, but I totally don't get this vibe. He likes her to be around him for sure (who wouldn't, she seems to be a lovely person). But is this enough to ignore the "right" decision? Well, it probably could be if we assume that he is a very "weak" king who doesn't give much thoughts in his decisions and just choses the most comfortable way for him, ignoring that this would make many powerful people (including his family) his enemies. Don't want to downsize this show. It really exceeds my hopes so far. Just this little point doesn't feel "right" for me atm. Absolutly love George's outstanding character development, so there will probably be an absolutly understandable reason for Viserys decision and I will be the first to say that I was wrong the moment we get to know it! โ๏ธ๐

2022-08-29 21:30:45 +0000 UTCOverall I loved this episode. Great intro. The visuals are amazing. Especially the dragons are breathtaking. Also like almost all the characters and the part they take. Rhaenyra, Daemon and Otto clearly top shelf so far. Also like Rhaenys and Alicent.. BUT I don't understand the kings decision to marry Alicent. Don't get me wrong: I wouldn't like to see him marry a kid instead. I also see him feeling good with Alicent around him. But he asked most of his council for advice and all accept Otto (who pretended to have compassion with the king to have marry for duty and kindly pushing him to the emotional direction instead๐) told him what the logical decision would be. He even told Rhaenyra he doesn't want to replace her mother and that it is his duty to marry again (meaning: no feelings involved). And then decides to marry Alicent?! Why? Because she fixed his dragon? Of course I saw the obvious marriage with Alicent coming, but at this point it seems like a very irrational decision tbh. Don't want to paint it black here, but this gives me tiny "plot rushing" vibes from the GoT season that shall not be named. You know: main characters suddenly making decisions and changing their whole behavior without a solid ground (character development) to built it up from. Again, really liked all the rest of this episode, but that left a bitter taste for me... Love Anges exitement for the dragons and Carlies puns as usual. Great to watch it with you two! โค๏ธ

2022-08-29 15:56:39 +0000 UTCAlicent is such an intriguing character! Poor girl is going against her morals and her best friend because her father is a political imp. This is such an awful position for this girl. She cannot win. Daemon is another fascinating character! Especially in this episode. His want to be noticed by the king and his realm is unmatched. He reminds me a little bit of Silco because his methods are calculated and cold and he seems like a person that believes that the "ends justify the means". He does truly care for his family though, not enough to not hurt their feelings though imo. Giant power plays with the egg!
