As usual, Ange's list made a lot of sense. I loved most of the characters so much but with season 4, so many of them took a nosedive. (especially Armin, Connie and Annie)

2024-04-06 04:48:49 +0000 UTCLevi is one of my favorite characters even in season four, I think the reason he was so focused on killing zeke was because that was the final mission Erwin left to him and with his whole backstory of how the scouts changed his life and Erwin sort of saved him from the underground I think it adds a lot more weight to him finally killing zeke. He’s also just really freaking cool

2022-08-25 18:53:45 +0000 UTCI think there are many ways to go about forming a tier list. Carlie & Ange went based off of screen time and writing. I personally would make mine based on how compelling of a character they were during their time on screen, rather than the length of time. For example, even though Magath didn't have much screen time, he would be pretty high for me because he basically adopted the Braus way, being to acknowledge his wrong doings and attempt to atone for them, and also not wanting Gabi or Falco get wrapped up in war. Another example is Marco, I would probably put him at A Tier because of how integral he was to Jeans character arc, and how compelling and wholesome he was when he was present.

From a naïve soldier, to the stages of grief - shock, denial, anger, bargaining, and how he is still in the depression stage. Will he ever find acceptance?

That’s why we’ve asked for you guys to maybe explain why you’d have characters higher or lower than the tiers we have them in. And @brodi I don’t see how I’m thinking with my heart and allegiance to Eren when Carlie and I put him top. I didn’t give him Brownie points. I just think as a character, he carries the show. I tried to keep bias out of my list. @Sean you can definitely have a character lower for their screen time imo. It’s because they have little screen time that their development just isn’t as good. I’m sure Magath and Shadis would be higher if they were present more. We’d love to see your list!

2022-08-21 08:27:03 +0000 UTCTo be completely honest I’m not a fan of either list but my issue with Carlies list is she seemed to put characters low because they didn’t get a lot of screen time, she even said that she doesn’t want to have to think or remember what they’ve done which in my opinion discredits her list. The best tier lists that I’ve seen reactors make is when they deep dive into all characters on their list and discuss strengths and flaws but I just don’t think these two put a great deal of effort into their lists. For example carlie puts magath and Keith in D when they had great development for the time they were on screen and putting Pyxis into C is an absolute crime. I wish they put thought into each character more deeply rather then just putting them somewhere and maybe discussing them for 30 seconds.

His goal was to prevent the alliance from fracturing, which would happen if Connie killed Falco. So either Connie would save him. or he would get his mom back, either way it wouldn't harm the alliance. Well outside of losing Armins strategic mind, but he kinda admited he doesn't really know how to deal with this situation.

I don’t think that that was too late, because I’ve understood Connie since the beginning, but I know that people don’t have the same views and opinions about the same characters, so maybe they felt this to be late. 2022-08-20 08:27:25 +0000 UTCI would rank Armin higher but I totally understand. I like EMA bound the best and his personality is gold but I admit I got verrrrrry bored by every Armin scene in season 4 part 1 and 2 (except the port scene). Not his fault but as a viewer it's a bit boring

He’s not so developped but I think it is in a kind of way, I don’t know… Isayama can write characters and even if he doesn’t put too many details into them, I think you can understand them. I liked Connie “normality”, and the bond he has with Jean and had with Sasha describes him a lot to me. I think I’d give him a B 🤓

I've watched it countless times and have so much respect for the creator and the people that help create the AOT universe. It only gets better with rewatch.

2022-08-20 01:43:42 +0000 UTCYou bring up an interesting point when it comes to the scene with Armin and Connie's mom, since I sort of viewed it in a different light. We've been shown time and time throughout the season (and a little bit in S3 too) that Armin struggled with the fact he was chosen over Erwin. Unfortunately, he feels pressured to live up to Erwin's legacy, even when people don't make the comparisons- and even when they do unintentionally. Erwin's thing was that he always took gambles with his actions, the scene with Armin and Connie's mom showed that Armin struggled with the position he was put into and attempted to do something Erwin would've done- the scene of him raising his voice at Mikasa about the situation and him thinking of Erwin moments right before taking action further prove that point. Of course, that is just my take! Always love your reactions and especially how you two analyze the show.

2022-08-19 23:04:12 +0000 UTCMy thing with Connie, it took too long for him to become relevant. The third to the last episode of final season part 2 is when he was actually somewhat of a use. I just he was just one of those characters that was just there. He never contributed until late in season 4

Made me feel for connie and how he had lost everyone in his life including his mother, her best friend and now he wants to kill his friends)

2022-08-19 21:32:46 +0000 UTCI definitely don't think Armin needed to be Erwin's successor, and I don't think anyone in our main gang expected him to be. Personally, I think Armin was doomed from the moment they choose him over Erwin. I don't think it was the wrong choice, but Armin could never live up to the legacy that is Erwin Smith. I also think Armin jumping into Connie's mom's mouth was a very Erwin move. It was a gamble to see if Connie would actually let him die, but him dying was also something I think he may have come to accept.

Levi, armin and hange are my favs and are high in my top 100 character's list, however I do agree that what they did with armin in s4 was disappointing and that levis nerf got annoying at times but yeah. I do agree even is the best written character but fav wise he's probably my 4th after those 3 😁 still great lists tho. Did like how specified each teir was for ange, nice touch
