While Isayama is an amazing writer that has been playing the long game since before chapter 1, the overall plot of the last season (both parts) kind of feels like he had a general idea of what he wanted to do (Eren becomes the antagonist who tries to kill everyone and the scouts try to stop him) with a few scenes fleshed out, but didn't quite put it together right. That's why some parts feel rushed, others don't make as much sense.

Love your reactions. I definitely shared your sentiments overall on the show and overall on the last few episodes of s4p2. Something Angie mentioned way back is that this show would've benefited from maybe double the episode count in a few spots (such a shame, oh well). Definitely the issue was the pacing and you hit the nail on the head with some issues with the character arcs. S4E24-27 are definitely the most controversial episodes. Overall I'd rank the seasons as S1, S2, S3P2, S4P1 as awesome, and maybe S3P1 and S4P2 as decent. S4E28 was awesome and I hope it is indicative of what is to come in part 3. This was a great video and you guys gave a great reacting experience to the show

One thing I always loved about this series is every single time I wrote something off like; "oh its just a show that doesnt make sense and they probably wont explain it but it doesnt matter ill suspend my disbelieve anyway" The story would literally eventually revisit that thing and explain it in a perfect way. It happened so many times to me. One example is in season 1 I looked at the civilization era and technology level of these people and thought well there is literally no way any of these humans built that wall, they simply do not have the technology. Especially quickly enough to hide from these monsters. So I would say, well thats not important just a small thing un-accounted for and SURE ENOUGH every single time I thought I found an error or plot hole the writer plugged that bitch up and wrapped it in a nice bow. Anyway, great series you guys did here fantastic work.

Loved the journey with you guys and appreciate the effort put into all your videos, especially this one! A couple points I’d like to make concerning “The Alliance” and why it may feel weird and could be perceived as rushed. The first scene that a lot of people feel is out of place upon first reaction is the one where Connie and Armin see Annie for the first time since being crystallized, and Connie cracks up upon seeing Annie gobble down a pie. At first glance it may seem strange but it makes a lot of sense when factoring in the context. Connie has been dealing with Sasha’s death and earlier that day he nearly fed an innocent kid in Falco to his mother. Considering the recent trauma he’s been through AND the fact that Annie’s sloppy eating probably reminded him a little of Sasha, his strong laughter is very fitting of a classic trauma coping response, similar to how Eren laughed at both Hannes’ and Sasha’s death. As far as “The Alliance” being rushed, well you’re absolutely correct, however, it had to be. From the moment Eren obtains the full powers of the founder, he can literally flatten the world in approximately 2 weeks. It would have been a more flawed writing choice from a logistics perspective to spend more time on making it a more seamless transition. As for how the characters interact within the alliance and how appropriate that feels , I agree with you both that can be up for much more debate. Once again love and thank you guys! ❤️

Does Eren love Mikasa? There are strong signs that he does. He blushed when he gave her the scarf. Isiyama said when he draws her from his point of view, he makes her look more beautiful. (People look more beautiful in the eyes of those who love them). She’s like the main reason he’s destroying the entire world. “I’ll always wrap that scarf around you Mikasa”. He pushed her away because he wants her to be free from his love. That’s why he wanted the scarf to be thrown away. So she could forget him & move on. He wants to her “live & be happy”. Even if it comes at the cost of her hating him.

Also Shadis mentions in that scene that there may come a time for those cadets to rise up, so by cadets infiltrating the Jaegerists, it gives our guys the upper hand.

A good psychologist fan would be better at this but I don't think he is a psycho because psychopath have huge ego and like themself a lot (Eren seems to depreciate himself a lot). They will also never put anyone above them and can't feel compassion to anyone. So I don't feel like it's that (I feel like Eren is geniune about caring about his friends). However it might be something else like borderline personality disorder (impulsive and anger issues, destructive behavior, unstable relationships, self harm etc). Going too far, too fast. Putting themself in dangerous situations all the time. Jean might have been right about the "suicidal maniac" nickname.

Eren already knew Mikasa loved him. The reason he asked her is far more tragic. Eren had seen the future, & he was desperately looking for a way out. He was hoping Mikasa would give him a different answer than what he had already seen. "Perfect timing" He said when his friends interrupted their conversation. Because the scene played out exactly as he saw. Remember what he said to Hanje in prison? "If you know another way, then tell me what it is". That is what he meant. Episode 28 is Eren simply looking for a way out of the inevitable future.

We see Historia telling Eren “to have a child”, and we see her looking at/waiting for the farmer then. But is the farmer a cover/fake relationship to justify Historia’s pregnancy? i think that it’s so rushed because everything really happens so fast. When Gabi shoots at Eren and decapitates him, it’s a matter of seconds that he transforms into the “hallucigenia” monster and the walls come down. And so the decisions of the alliance… there are only few hours to decide, so they have to hurry and we hurry with them. That’s why maybe their plan sucked and everything was confused. Isayama got us confused too, we are part of the script 🤪🤓

Fun fact: This version of ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn is actually a new remix made for this episode. If you guys are planning to do an OST reaction you can maybe see the 3 different versions. They are ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn (the original), ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn＜WMId＞(the version Ange likes with the crazy vocals) and ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn＜TFSv＞(The version played in this episode). My personal favorite is the newest version because of the creepy vibe it gives, really fits well with the scene. But I wouldn't love it as much if it weren't for the other versions and how they have evolved, kinda mirroring Eren's progression as a character.

The trip to Marley really glued together why the alliance is doing what it is doing. They all actually got to live in the outside world for awhile and saw that not everyone is a propaganda hate filled Marleyan. They even broke bread and partied some of them. I think it’s easy to forget that it isn’t just these spiteful Marleyan military members that are going to be decimated… it’s innocent people, women, and children who all are going to suffer the same consequence. They all got to witness this while everyone else on the island has absolutely no idea. So this groups relationship with the world is VASTLY different than everyone else on Paradis who probably has a jagged idea that everyone outside the island is an evil monster. You also get to see why Eren decided to take matters into his own hands and it really fills that void that was left at the end of season 3 up until the attack on Marley that set all of this into motion. This series is incredible and thank you guys for sharing your journey with it! Can’t wait to finish this series off with everyone who has the same passion for it come next year!

I love this show so much, it’s been a pleasure watching it with you 💖 I’m a “late fan” of this masterpiece myself. I’ve been a huge fan of manga/anime (I read manga and then I watch animes) since I was 9 y.o (I’ll be 34 in september 🤓) and I stopped following mangas for a few years back in 2011-2015 because I got involved so badly with the stories I read and I was so f*g disappointed how Naruto was going that I quit, angry and furious, and I only followed stupid animes to laugh a bit and stop thinking about serious themes. AoT anime came out in 2013 and in 2015 (between season 1 and 2) two movies came out in cinemas for a recap. I still remember the huge cardboards at my local cinema here and I remember the things I said back then (my bf keeps on mocking me for this even now*): “gosh, I loved shonens, but who the f* can watch a thing like that? Surely it sucks!”. Some friends of mine followed the manga and talked about it but I was 100% uninterested and I didn’t even wanted to talk about mangas in general in that period of my life. In 2017, my bf wanted me to watch it with the airing of season 2, because he started watching it seriously and immediately thought I was wrong with my prejudices but I kept refusing it. I didn’t want to get involved again with stories that kept me thinking too much, I wanted surreal humor (you should watch humoristic animes, japanese no-sense humor is the best). He insisted and I started in 2018 and I’m not gonna lie, I watched the first 6 episodes saying “this show sucks as I thought, I was right” at every episode because I wanted him to stop forcing me to watch it. Yes, he literally (Ange 🤪) forced me, I was ready to report him to the police 😂 but he knows me too well… and I knew myself that in my heart I was lying and when Eren died at episode 6 I fell in love completely and I started reading the manga… I told you, I wasn’t new to this world, and, in my humble opinion, NONE is like AoT. Not even Death Note. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of good stories out there, they bring suspence and controversial emotions, DN is one of them, but AoT is another level to me and as much as I love other mangas, it can’t be beaten so far. (when DN came out, It was a huge change in the manga world - and everybody said “there won’t be a manga like DN”, but then AoT came after a few years, so maybe in 5 years another Isayama-lookalike will bring another masterpiece to the world, who knows) I feel “bad” for you because it’s your first anime, it’s like you started from the dessert 😂 After this, you have to erase everything and forget about AoT and try not to compare it to other animes you will watch. It will be hard, but you can do it! 🥲 AoT brought me back to mangas and I started again (not like before, because I told you…. Nothing is like AoT to me) and I discovered new cool stuff… *my bf everyday mocks me with “”who the f* can watch AoT?!” If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have that Reiner/Armored sleeve tattoo 😂😂😂 you should kiss the ground I walk on”…. Well, truth hurts 🤪 Sorry for the long nosense comment, guys. There are only 9 chapters left in the manga so I reckon it will be 8 episodes. The long break is clearly to do with the difficulty of animating the rumbling. There were so many that expected a movie because we didn’t think mappa would have the ability to animate the rumbling for multiple episodes

The main criticism that almost everyone had with the last arc of AoT is that it feels rushed. The pacing of the rest of the story has always been so good that now it's noticeable that is not the case. It doesn't change how amazing the serie and the manga are, but it's true that one more book would have fixed that feeling.

Eren already would have seen his conversation with mikasa in his future memories so he already knew that she wasn’t going to reveal her feelings for him. However that question was erens final desperate attempt to see if he could change the future that he saw. When he heard her answer he realised that he can’t change what has been written. If she did answer truthfully then eren possibly might not have gone through with it because suddenly his tragic future would have changed and maybe he could find another way.

Many of us didn't quite like how some important characters were dealt with, as well as how they all got close in the last few episodes. I understand that they don't have a choice and no time to sort everything out but I would definitely look uncomfortable around Marley's side if I were in the scouts' shoes (except our angel Falco) and especially Annie! Call me a hypocrite but I can't sympathize with her even though I understand where she comes from. I'm one of the people who watched this show and read the manga so many times and each time I discover something new and gain more understanding of the story. But watching your reactions was a new learning experience for me as I enjoyed seeing different perspectives and wild theories that aren't exactly crazy. It's only been your first time watching and you've already figured out most of the story, had a good understanding of the characters, and picked on so many small details and symbols. You guys are really good at what you're doing! Thank you so much for this special reaction video! I hope you'll still enjoy this experience after it all ends.

I just love how this show added a lot of depth through the 4 season, without it making it weird. At the beginning of S1, I thought I was watching a show about a bunch of kid fighting titans in a fantastic world. By the end of S4, we are in a more realistic world, with racism, genocides, and conflicts between countries. And this transition never seemed weird to me. Fantastic writing. Also fantastic is the way they make us understand everyone's point of view. Everyone can pick a side, but everyone watching this show understand how the other side decided to be how they are. There is no "I'm the villain because I like to be the villain". This is the show that brought me back to watching anime. I'm just glad to have been allowed to watch it again via your videos. Keep up the good work, I'm really looking forward for the next shows on your list. :)

Your percentage is way off base, but there are definitely a concerning amount of people who identify themselves as Jaegerists and Ange isn't one of them. And you already read the manga so you know how S4P3 will go. There's nothing to suggest anything will be changed

I started watching AOT thanks to you guys. What an incredible journey and what a brilliant season finale it was. Probably my favorite episode in the wholesomeness rating. This episode broke me. Eren knows he is doing the wrong thing for the right reasons and he trudges along. Edit: I take it all back.. your intro was the most wholesome thing I have seen all season.
