It really seems Italy from 20-40s’ when there was Fascism. Many other things are italian too (and german and northern europe too, obviously)

This is also why Eren resorted to doing the rumbling. He never wanted to do it, he's not okay with doing it, it's clear as day that the whole situation has made him depressed......... Also, the idea of destroying the military bases is basically the 50 year plan. It is a sound plan with major flaws: To use the founding titan you need a titan shifter with royal blood, you would need Historia to give her consent to have her and her children inherit the founding titan over the next 50 years, if not you'd have to force and enslave them. Basically a retelling of Ymir's trajedy. Dominating the world with the power of the titans is what led to Eldians being hated in the first place, the world will resist and fight for their own freedom, and Eldians will still be hated. It's also risky because if Historia and her kids get assassinated then that 50 year plan is cut short or rather it would be over for them. Eren rejected that plan mostly for Historia's sake though, but it still has many flaws regardless. It's also good to note that one of Eren's aim is: to break the cycle of war and hatred. Destroying the military bases would not achieve this goal. It would only "stir up" more hatred.... Though pure evil, the rumbling benefits his people more as only the people on the island would be living which means no war and they can live in freedom.... It is also good to note that the Marlians and other people around the world want to commit GENOCIDE by killing the paradisians. It's literally genocide vs genocide. I guess you are probably thinking, "but Eren is killing more". It's kill or be killed........... The alliance is literally siding with the world to stop Eren which means that they are accepting the fact that stopping Eren means that sooner or later their beloved paradisians and island will be destroyed by the military base of marley or another country.......... Let me ask you this, if you're Eren's friend, and you see that he's committing genocide to protect you and the people of your country from getting killed off due to genocide, what would you do??? would you be okay with your race and people getting extinct, and attempt to stop Eren because he's "killing more" people??? Think about it objectively..... You're stopping eren today from killing your enemy so that your enemy can kill you tomorrow.

However, his general feeling of inadequacy compared to Erwin made him willing to die in the event his gamble failed.

2022-07-30 23:39:12 +0000 UTCThere is something really profound and inspiring about the team up scene at the end..when you consider Reiner’s story, continuing to fight with everything he has, watching Falco transform, Porco eaten, Eren unlocks the founding. You can only imagine what it must mean to him now seeing the youth in his care and his former allies asking him to join them. They WANT him there with them (he couldn’t even believe it) and that action on their part really connects to his suicidal state in the prior arc…really touching stuff. Excellent writing with a deep message

2022-07-30 22:05:06 +0000 UTCLet me preface this with the fact that i do not know the outcome of the show, I'm only interacting with a direct question asked by Carlie and Ange in their post discussion around 25 mins in because i am very mindful about spoilers and i genuinely don't know the answer to my own ramblings here: Ps: I'm not trying to steal your show host seat in shredding the evidence anw :p , I'm literally just expanding on the implications of the questions you both asked. - Carlie: "Does Eren know and planned for this." This is purely hypothetical based on my awareness of Dr Manhattan story line in DC comics. In fact i don't know if this supports Carlie's point of view or Ange's opposing point of view here but : Eren is the prime representation of a person that is driven by pure will power for a single goal his entire life : being free. Now if Carlie's right about Eren potentially wanting to be the common enemy for everyone, this would mean that in his mind, when he kissed Historia's hand, it would have dawned at him, at that very exact moment, that in order for his friends and the world to be free of this world, he would have to sacrifice his own freedom to his own predestined fate and prewritten story by non other than his future self. The very thing he sought, his freedom? He would have to sacrifice it and have no will power of his present actions in favor of his future self's choices. A closes loop of slavery to his own fate with no freedom. Which would make his line about "if someone tries to take my freedom from me, I'll take it from them first" a Biiiiiiig ironic "ouuff.". Maybe that's why Eren in S4 has been more down and gloomy with his his dead hey stares and dissociation from his feelings to himself, his friends and the world? I don't know. Maybe it's just artistic choice or other reasons. Not sure. Now that I'm thinking about it, wasn't the scene where eren and friends saw the ocean for the first time, he asked Armin "if we destroy all our enemies behind the sea, will WE finally be free?" (A scene that Armin flashed back to a couple episodes ago funny enough). I'm wondering if at that moment, Eren was feeling the depression and the acceptance that he has to do the unthinkable, to lose his friends, to lose his freedom, to lose everything, to be a slave his to his own fate, to destroy everything he has and cross that sea with the rumbling, so that everyone else is free. Funny enough, in Willie Tybur's theater play, he spoke of a Marlyan HERO Helios that united the world (even if the story was fake). And even when everyone thought that story was true, the world was still at war because Marlyans took credit for that and xenophobia remained. I wonder if Eren, or isayama at least, doesn't believe that the world needs a hero to unite in peace. What if the world needed a common villain, a shared enemy, and a shared trauma, to solidify ties between those who never would have broke bread together before. If Carlie is right then, this is a predestination-level tragic Greek tragedy for Eren to be an unsung hero because his actions will be seen as villainous, and if ange is right then deciding to go against this grand sacrifice and choosing to destroy the world for the sake of a clean slate? That would have to make Eren even more solidified as a villain with Apocalypse or Thanos 2.0 process of: "everything will be burn and all that". Who's right? I genuinely do not know, i like and fear both sides of this coin and both would make for an epic show, and tear jerker for one side or the other.

Regarding all the "Jeagearist" comments directed towards Ange, I have no idea where this came from. My favorite character is Ereh (Eren rightly spelled, I just like Mikasa's pronunciation) for all the wrong reasons but does he make a compelling character and Ange is trying to defend that, not his actions but his character arc and it's baffling that people aren't able to get behind that. If all comments are toxic right now, I can't imagine what the last part would bring.

If anyone tries to paint him in a certain light of taking sides or if people are labeling him, it's just doing a disservice to Ange's (and Carlie's) amazing ability to dissect and digest all elements of this anime. These two are miles ahead of what I was able to grasp on a first watch. I've seen this anime roughly 10 times through, and I STILL am picking up on new things. Carlie & Ange have been able to provide these amazing perspectives and theories that I would never had thought of. These two are so insightful BECAUSE they are able to pick up on so many things and are able to be completely fair in their view of the different perspectives in AoT. I look forward to the discussions at the end of every video, because unlike a lot of channels (no hate, just objectively), these two always discuss things that I don't see anyone else talking about.

You guys are extremely unbiased when it comes to most characters in AOT. @Ange, My favorite character is Ereh too, just like Walter White is my favorite character in Breaking Bad. You are never on board with their actions after a certain point in the show, but does it make for an excellent character arc. The best part about Ereh is that his motivations never changed, just his methods became way more drastic that made him cross the line. You don't have to like it at all but just appreciate the writing and the boundaries that it's willing to cross. @Carlie, how do you keep nailing the right questions post-show? Lmao that Jon snow reference is the best btw.

Having to choose between doing the rumbling to protect the people you know and love since birth, or accepting the extinction of your race/people by the hands of Marley and other countries around the world, what would you have done?? I get the idea that Carlie would probably accept the extinction of people/race but I am not sure what my guy Ange thinks about this situation. I think Ange is in a tough situation right now just watching this unfold lol
