I always think now about that one line of his in season 3 before Erwin dies, about his goal in life being bringing back the devil. He's sorta come full circle, just in an insanely diabolical way. I think of Floch as a character that's like "what if a traumatized person decided to lean into their worst possible survival instincts?" lol. I think he's a xenophobic POS but I also don't see how things could have gone any differently for him.

Personally, I appreciate his approach....and I am speaking as someone who has read the manga a few times and finished the series.....Team Eren all day lol

The show made it clear multiple times that the Titans would soon be irrelevant as human technology was growing at a quick rate. And historically speaking, the show is based around the 1930s. It was only a matter of time before tanks, nukes, & fighter jets, & other weapons would have been made. Eren knows this. It was either now or never for him.

That's the one thing that's kept me still loving the show up to now - even after all the messed up stuff that happens and the iffy politics that are on display sometimes, I always feel like I can understand WHY a character does or feels something, and that's just good storytelling. I even understand/empathize with Floch, and I hate him the most lmao

One could argue that if our crew were convicted enough in their belief that they are not an "evil race", they would choose peace even if that meant the Eldians being wiped out. However, I'm not saying that what Eren is doing is not understandable, because of course it is. Eren is just doing what he believes is the only path to the Eldian's survival. I think there are a lot of other ways to attain peace, albeit more difficult ways.

2022-07-03 19:34:10 +0000 UTCThings are really ramping up this is so exciting! My personal favourite moment from this episode was Gabi's voice actor absolutely screaming her lungs out for Reiner. So much raw emotion in that performance. I saw that Carlie reacted a similar way I did when I first watched this moment, it was heart-wrenching, made me tear up. One of the most top-notch parts of this show is the voice acting. I don't even need to tell you guys how amazing Eren's voice actor is, Yuki Kaji. Supremely talented as you know. Also Ange, I don't blame you at all for simping over Pieck. She is just adorable and charming, no way around it. Who would've guessed the person beneath the duck titan could be so cute?

Its sad actually cause the point is to understand that this is a full on war and that both sides and right and wrong and ready to defend their hometowns.

Marley instigated the war when they sent the warrior unit. True. Does Paradis have a right to defend themselves? Absolutely. Is Eren still a great character? Hard to deny. But are there some questionable actions taking place? Don't see how this can be controversial. Both Armin and Mikasa have shown just how horrified, remorseful, and disappointed they were in how all this unfolded, and the blame does lie squarely on Eren. Now of course you can argue that he had no choice. I'm not sold on that myself, but it's not an argument without merit. I just get a little tilted when ppl are just totally on board with everything Eren does, glorify him like some cult leader, instead of just accepting that he, like so many of our other favorite characters, are also flawed and do questionable things (except Mikasa, she's perfect)

The idea that the Eldians of Paradise must fight is a point of contention among the fanbase, and probably the biggest dividing line. All nations declared war with Marley on Paradise right before Eren struck Liberio. It is inevitable that Paradise will be exterminated if they don't fight back. A lot of people who like to play the "both sides" line seem to forget that our main cast, specifically Eren, has their back against the wall with no other options than to fight or die. A consistent theme in the show.
