im commenting on the wrong episode, but the drink reiner and bertolt was drinking was coffee. because coffee has to be imported, the people inside the walls wouldn’t have access to it. zeke reiner and bertolt do because they came from somewhere outside the walls, which was why armin didn’t know what the drink was and just assumed it was black tea since they have tea

I understand if you are conflicted on them, that’s completely natural, some reactors (not carlie and Ange) just outright hate them without putting any thought into why they are doing this. In regards to trost it had been five years of searching and they still had not found the coordinate, I’m sure at that point they must have been desperate, at this point it’s unknown why they may be desperate so it’s not surprising they would attack trost hoping that the coordinate would appear. As soon as they saw eren transform the first time they must have been bewildered at their luck and so capturing eren became their mission. I doubt humane ways would work given they hadn’t found anything in five years. I’m sure you know as well as I do that their is no hope for them to defect from their mission and they don’t have as much choice as you allude to

Let them experience the show without building things up so much. I get everyone's excited, but let's have some restraint and perspective.

That Marco scene was sad, horrific and tragic. But at the end I felt it was necessary for Reiner, Bert and Annie to do it even though I didn't like it, obviously they are enemies and if I were in their shoes I wouldn't want my mission to be jeopardized no matter who heared. I also wouldn't want to kill him if he was my commrad but at the end of the day, for them, he had to go. Seeing him dead in the first scene they showed him, I had no idea who he was 😅 Had to go back a few episodes to figure him out the first season. Thanks for the reaction, things are gonna get way better and more interesting with some aha moments plus a lot more questions. Can't wait to see those reactions. Much love you too❤️‍🔥

The Marco scene breaks my heart still. If there's one character I wish I could bring back it would be him, I feel like he would've been such a sick character and a great guy to have around. His character growth would've been great. I feel like when they were in training he was a really integral part of their friend group. This whole part of the season breaks my heart, I hate seeing them fight eachother because despite all the wrongs everyone has done you can tell they still in some way care. You can see by Connie & Sasha crying from being confronted with the fact that they need to kill Reiner. Reiner & Annie's reaction to Marco as well. It's just heartbreaking. Especially when you factor in that these characters are meant to be aged 15-17 at this point it's just.. man. Hits hard.

They are both interesting characters that obviously have done some awful shit, it's easy to dislike them. But it's also clear that they, including Annie, don't want to be doing this and feel that the only reason they need to do it is because they have no other choice.

I disagree! I think you can hold conflicting feelings/opinions on them and to some degree that's what the show wants you to do, rather than to forgive them because there's an unseen reason at this point for their actions. You might still hate them for the decisions they're taking. Going with what we know at this point, then one example would be, after experiencing the horror of what they did, then did they really need to break through Trost (which, if they didn't plug it up, could have led to literally all of humanity falling apart). Surely there were more humane ways to try to look for the coordinate, even if they'd had no success up until then. It also goes back to what Annie said near the end of season 1 - about people who go with the flow and people who go against the flow - if they feel remorseful about their actions, then no matter how hopeless their actions, they could still choose to abandon their mission or even defect. But they are making a self preservationist choice to continue on their mission.

I was replying to angelos comment about whether or not the show is trying to make you hate them. If you do hate them than you’re to some degree not paying attention to their actions or dialogue. We don’t know anything yet about why they do these things but the hints are there as to how they feel about their actions. It’s clear they are not evil so for me I just can’t hate them. What they are doing is messed up but they must have a reason for it

Yep and Ymir did say to them directly in S2E12 “I’m probably the only one who understands the position you’re in” and she is somewhat of a trustworthy character so for me personally that was enough for me to not hate them, but it’s understandable why people either forget that scene or don’t consider it substantial enough to sway their opinion on them.

that's cool and all, but I definitely hated them at that point you can't go around killing people's moms and friends and then be like "we had no choice", it's normal to have an emotional reaction to that. but the characters, as well as the watchers of the show, can have conflicting views on the whole situation

We’re still very interested in their reasoning, but as we said, it’s left a really sour taste in our mouths when it comes to those 3 characters now. We’ll have to wait and see how the show plans on the turning that around!

when I first saw them kill Marco, I thought it was horrible but I was still too interested in their reasoning, especially after Reiner called the poeple of the walls an evil race, there are jus way too many intriguing lines for me to immediately write them off

The show definitely doesnt want you to hate them, thats why you have Reiners split personality and Bertholdts lines such as "Nobody's in the wrong, we had no choice in all this" and "Who would want to do this, do you think this is what I aspire to be" The show is giving you very clear hints that they are not evil and are conflicted enemies. When I watched the show first time I was too intrigued by their story and desire to understand them that I didnt hate them at all

The death of Marco left a sour taste in my mouth as well and to this day I still find it unacceptable+ Annie playing with the scouts in s1 was so traumatizing for me that I couldn't like her anymore (I don't hate her tho). And please don't worry about what the others might say about you not liking certain characters, up to this point you've been so understanding and respectful towards all the characters, and you've expressed your feelings just as I would've liked to see the others do. It's so sickening to see some people being so nasty towards the most loved characters that you'd be so shocked to see that :(

Y’all have become my favorites reactors for a few reasons and the upload schedule is a big one lmao. Big props for the speed y’all are cranking these episodes out. I’ve seen AOT a dozen times now including watching reactions so usually if a channel takes it super slow like 1 episode a week I’ll lose interest and move on rather than wait.
