Today. Journal. April 14, 2018.

Today I paid a LOT of money to the government in taxes. It feels like a lot. It was quite a bit over my monthly rent, so there was that. This is not the most fun part of my day.

My phone is also having a major glitch, so I'm going to have to go to the local repair shop - which is always fun considering how many nudes are on my phone. I always think they must look through the photos...I don't see how you would not look. If I was working at a store like that, I definitely would look, which is probably unethical in some way but I suppose there are worse things you could do. Sometimes I think it'd be funny if they went and saved the photos thinking they found something super fancy, and dirty, and are proud of this treasure trove of nudie images. And then! They would see them all over the internet! And be very disappointed that it was not the veritable treasure trove they originally thought. Perhaps they'd feel duped. And then they could come and leave me a nasty note on tumblr about how they feel duped by this and their naivete has been erased and how dare I.

That's never going to happen.

I really dislike going to that part of town though because I always get lost.

I've recently been reintroduced to Netflix and have been binge-watching crime documentaries as well as this show called Mindhunter which is about a couple of detectives who catch serial killers by analyzing their psyches. I'm certain this show is preparing me to avoid serial killers (it's not, that's just pretend). In any case, as far as I know, there has not been a serial killer who targeted redheads - that category of people have all been religious nuts accusing us of being witches and burning redheads at the stake, drowning them, or doing any number of other horrible things.

Actually, I just googled that, and it's not true. There was a series of murders called the Redhead Murders that occurred from 1978-1992. To be fair though, they didn't ever prove those were committed by the same person.

I'm going to stop talking about serial killers though. It's a terrible, creepy morning conversation topic. In any case, I think the TV show I mentioned above is interesting.

Today I'm going to also be scanning (right after I finish writing this) some instax I took of Masha a few months ago and uploading those to the $5 level as a special bonus set. I'll also be scanning in some of my paintings - which I can't decide if I should try to sell or not. And if I do, I do not know how to price them at all either. So I'll need to figure that out. Pricing your own work is a weird thing. I know a few photographers who do auctions, others price specific things at random depending on how much they like them, others just have a specific price point depending on size (this is generally the category I'm in. You always feel like you're assigning some real level of worth to your photos, and I sometimes feel like I price things a bit too cheap. Then again, I sell quite a few things that way so, I guess it works somewhat.

I'm going to take my camera with me to take more photos of flowers while my phone gets fixed - I hope no one is irritated by the flower photos! The trees are beautiferous, and I love them! But I understand that can get a bit old for some people.

In any case, I must make coffee and start scanning photos to post! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

No - I agree with you. I'd agree that paying taxes, in theory, is good. Paying toward society to better it, and then take part in that better society, would be good. Unfortunately, that rarely seems to be how these things go. They can't even fix the pipes in Flint, Michigan (and now Chicago has also tested positive for lead in the water), yet they can bomb other countries. Having money go towards needless war while kids in Michigan can't take a bath is upsetting.

Yes - many times you end up with a new one, though they've gotten very expensive. My phone was so ruined you couldn't open it - the screen had completely stopped functioning. They ended up replacing the whole phone.

Ah taxes ! To me it starts as a double edged sword ? I am kind of a socialist - so I am all for contributing to making something better or doing something now for a better future - pro-taxes. Yet we all know we are giving this money to fascists who fight wars on the credit card - and we are responsible for the bill - long term ? I guess the key is to make enough money so that big taxes are a sign you are doing well ? Trouble is those who are doing well - campaign contribute in lieu of taxpaying ? Tax paying is for other people - not the decider class ? May nature bless those who vote and those brave ones who run for office to work to change that. Be smarter and more thinking what the future could look like ? ~ thank you for letting me use your soap box. I apologize if you think it inappropriate to state these things here ? Even if your day is half over - I wish you one with good results and beauty !

I do not own a cellphone, so I have questions, not having experiences with all the good and bad that brings ? I did get the impression many *just get a new one* when they malfunction ? No fixing contemplated ? Maybe it is possible if your phone can be fixed - possible to fix it without looking at your photo files ? Of course if you must leave it with them - you are at risk as much as the President's lawyer ? Anything might be done to your phone in your absence ? (who's paranoid ? ) ;-)
