2025-04-14 08:47:30 +0000 UTCIt's an odd comparison, but I feel like it kind of follows the same general pattern of quality loss as Game of Thrones: First two seasons are great. Three and four are still pretty solid but you can start to see some of the cracks forming here and there. Five and six aren't completely and utterly abysmal, but there's definitely a drop in quality and we start getting more misses than hits. Then as it goes on from there the decline is much faster, far more obvious, and a lot harder to deny.

2025-04-13 23:42:07 +0000 UTCI see the dropoff almost immedoately. Even the Strangler episode was very weak. Spongebob just turns into a whiny fool. He becomes another Patrick, which completely ruins the dynamic. Then there's Squidward. All he becomes is a punching bag for Spongebob and Patrick. No reason for the torture porn of future episodes.

2025-04-13 21:28:11 +0000 UTCI'd recommend Alicia should continue to watch Spongebob only up until the end of Season 5, cause once Season 6 hits, that's when Spongebob really starts to go bad... Or I guess she could watch Season 6 if she's really craving more Spongebob afterwards. It has some good episodes, but some pretty bad and meh ones too, it's a mixed bag. However, I urge Alicia DO NOT WATCH SEASON 7! Every season after 6 is absolutely God Awful, and there's a good chance it will ruin a lot of the characters for her! Alicia has already fulfilled her "childhood as an adult" with the first 3 seasons (which peaked at the movie), and I'd hate to see her Spongebob adult childhood get tainted or even completely ruined by the later seasons, as Spongebob has only gotten gradually worse ever since Stephen Hillenburg left! The only logical solution I can think of is maybe for Alicia's viewers to decide which specific episodes she should watch, and be very selective about it, as Season 7 and beyond have very few actual good episodes.

But you could say that the longer Stephen Hillenburg wasnt involved with the show anymore, the more it lost its charme over time. Still glad the reactions continue tho

But yeah, now you can see how, season by season, the modern animation "improves," and the standards of the jokes are lowering (also becoming more gross-looking nowadays). Yes, I know. Log-running shows like that change with the time and live only for the money, and that's inevitable. But man, no wonder kids these days are… messed up (not that we ware better 😅)

Season 4 and 5 is still mostly good imo and even thale later seasons have good episodes sprinkled in every so often. Even if we get to a point where you are no longer injoying the show you could still ask us the episodes that are worth watching

Admittedly there is a vibe shift of the series for a while as the showrunners change and they try to find a new identity, and there are some rough episodes here and there, but its worth experiencing.
