I don't think they were even capable of respecting someone. I think this escape with Sanji is supposed to be showing that whatever their Mother did to protect Sanji's humanity either had at least a limited affect on the other brothers or it is just now starting to break through.

It's still capable of some impressive stuff, but we're coming across people that are stronger on average, so Monster Point isn't as useful as it was. Also, considering it was killing Chopper and causing him to attack friends as well as enemies, can't exactly say that pre-timeskip was better 😅
