idk if anyone said it but you can find recently deleted photos in your phone unless that's an apple only thing
Also cartoons are made for parents (assuming they watch with their kid) too so that's why they have adults jokes mixed in as well.

This really was aimed for everyone. Once we got Hulu/D+, my father would spend countless nights watching this before sleeping.

This is one of the few shows who are actually family shows.
As in their main demographic was children, but it had little jokes for any parents who where watching with their children.
I had completely forgotten they had John Oliver playing Holmes this episode.
And Larry King and Coolio playing themselves.

Alex Hirsch (the creator) has many posts showing the laundry lists of notes from higher-ups in Disney. Denying certain jokes and references from the show, as well as censoring any satanic references. Once you are done with the show you can find some of the notes, he's read them out before. If I remember correctly it got to around 40-100 changes to scripts or background images every episode.

Even as a kid I loved the shows that would include jokes that were above what my age group was expected to know. Actually learned some things from them.

Disney: "What will be our target demographic?"
Alex Hirsch: "Yes"

I'm pretty sure Alex Hirsch's target demographic for the show's jokes was "whatever I can get away with".

Yeah, but he was still alive when this episode came out (he even voiced his wax counterpart).

Groucho asking why there isn't anything in his hands is because Disney forced Alex Hirsch to remove the cigar along with a number of other edits, like the Kentucky line originally being Nantucket.
There's a whole Youtube video where he shares the kinda BS he had to deal with just to get some jokes into the show.
