Fun fact, but when One Piece was initially dubbed in English, 4Kids were the company who got the rights to it. They initially believed that it was a show aimed at a very young audience, and their handling of it was atrociously horrible. They censored quite a lot - for example, they cut Laboon out entirely, and they put colored circles onto the end of Sanji's cigarettes, to the point that he seemed to have a sucker fetish, every gun that wasn't cut out entirely was replaced by some weird doohicky or water pistol. and they say that Bellemere is still locked up in Arlong's dungeon to this day, alive, but never to be heard from again.
The opening scene of this episode was as far as they got. After all of that, the final scene of the 4Kids run was of the giant ship falling on the Going Merry and the scene cutting to black, leaving the impression on the kids who were watching it that the entire crew had been killed.

This is crazy to rewatch, now that we have more and more of Buggy's backstory. Buggy talking about Whitebeard.

I want to point out that Nami has probably done more visible physical damage to Luffy than all of the antagonists combined so far including Crocodile.

This is false. It is not close to "Oda's intention." It is a terrible fan edit that is a bastardization of the series. People aren't here for cut down, untrustworthy content. The anime is perfectly fine and the way One Piece should be viewed. Not when so called fans butcher it.

Alicia, if you wanna watch One Piece the way Oda intended, I highly recommend checking out One Pace. All the filler is removed and the pacing is much closer to the manga.

Robin, on the other hand, is the young, cool, goth aunt who doesn't even try to step in as a parent. Instead she just smiles, adds her two cents in when she feels it's important or is within her field of study, and otherwise is a subtle troll that loves fucking with her niece and nephews ... and also makes sure they don't get in TOO over their heads.

I always felt that Nami was like the bog sister of the crew: just trying to hold things together in the absence of any actual parents, but still full of youthful inclinations and foibles.
