Just to note, Alabasta only holds one poneglyph that we know of. The poneglyph that the Straw Hats found during the filler episode is non-canon. Toei added that in themselves, before they had a proper understanding of the role of the poneglyphs in the story.

Sorry, but your numbers are off. At 380 km/h, travelling 5km takes roughly 47 seconds.

It's so very important to remember that One Piece started and is still very much a show beloved and written for children. Many of us have grown older, and loss is something a child can recover from, yet that loss does not have to come when it can be avoided. Never mind the theories and tinfoil hats. Just maybe Pell survived because at the end of the day despite the roller-coaster that One Piece can often be, Oda has, especially back then, crafted a story that made us happy.
Thaaat said, there is also this (assuming I can post links here):
https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/vxd7wr/heres_the_answer_how_pell_did_actually_survive_a/
Summary: Pell is a Peregrine Falcon which can reach a plunging/diving speed of 380 km/h (236mph). The post assumes Pell brought the bomb to 7km, which accounts for little damage on a city from bomb that we are told can destroy 5km. Lots of math stuffs later and it's thought that Pell could travel, in a full dive, 5km in about 2 MILLISECONDS. It's possible the bomb took about 30 seconds to reach it's maximum size of 5km BECAUSE a certain bomb used in WW2 took about 10 seconds to reach 1.6km. Basically, even if Pell wasn't THAT fast, by One Piece scaling standards, it is totally possible that he could have escaped the blast radius. After all, Pell was known as the strongest warrior in Alabasta. I can't say more without possibly hinting at certain spoilers. So let's just say it's feasible he could have been faster than an explosion. #nerdingout @Aliciaxlife #birdlaw

The conversation between Cobra and Robin feels so much more impactful then I remembered it. Oda sowing the seeds for something incredible

Your reaction to Robin joining up, um...yeah, I am jumping for joy. This day is practically everything I wanted, all these peeps gettin into One Piece. I have waited 13 years, since it was the first thing to drastically change my life

Right now Robin is oldest in the crew.
And about the questions/answers (that some idiots on YouTube want to spoil), this show is great for that, that it gives you the answers... eventually. It just might take 1000+ episodes...

Well, if what I read about it is accurate, Pell would have been dead, had 9/11 not happened.

Pell is one of if not the most egregious fake out deaths in the whole show, even after a thousand chapters Im still like "bird boy should be deeeaaad!" every time I remember him

Every single thing Robin says and dose once she gets on the ship brings me so much joy, But also makes me so damn sad with how deep her word really are.
