Keep in mind... Jotaro was 17 during the events of Stardust Crusader and it's all but confirmed that he has some pretty extreme PTSD/Survivor's Guilt. Look at his first interaction with Kira in Part 4 for an example. When Jotaro was full of holes Kira made the simple unknowable mistakes of saying "I only have 20 seconds left" which made Jotaro start shaking as it reminded him of Dio counting down the seconds, then saying "useless small talk" which includes the word Muda which made him fall to a knee. Then he snapped and pummeled him silly. If I constantly had assassins like Johngalli A. hounding my steps looking for revenge I'd probably change the spelling of my kid's surname and disappear from their life too.
