STREAM IS LIVE ON MONDAY APRIL 1ST at 1PM PST. (Yes, it's on April 1st, no, this is not a joke, it just worked out that way)
I've explained this in a few previous posts, but for those who have missed it: Amy and I have spent over a year watching thousands of anime openings, trying to rank the actual, for-real, best 100 Anime Openings of All Time.
And we did it! We finished. We've got our Top 100.
We also have several thousand hours of study and opinions to share with you all.
Eventually I will release a polished video with the full list on the main channel. When that happens, a companion video will go up on the Patreon. The companion video will be Amy and I talking about why we ranked the openings the way we did with more specific examples than we could ever fit in a reasonable timeframe and longer examinations of not just the top 100 we picked, but dozens of others that make for good examples of why things didn't make the list.
Amy wanted to do this on a stream so people could ask questions lecture-hall style and we could react to them live. So, this is that stream. It's likely that this will be Part 1 as even skimming all these OPs takes about an hour, so talking about them is likely to take somewhere from 5 to 9 full hours. Oops!

I missed about 15 ops in the middle of the stream, which honestly isn’t that bad, but apparently Kageki Shojo was in that batch, so I’m just curious what jello had to say about it (especially what the negatives were) since I adore that opening

Jokes side massive props to you and Yam for doing this, even just trying to look up athecouple shows I was wanting to test in your guidelines I either can't find a version with credits or I can't find a non shitty 60fps upload of them. So can't imagine doing this for an many as you all went through.

2024-04-02 14:20:12 +0000 UTCThe only thing from what I caught that I have major disagreements with - FMA:B OP 2 would absolutely not reach my top 100. Its colour grading (probably the incorrect phrase but it's all my brain can come up with ATM) changes every shot and I hate it, there are like 5 different colours used to represent a clear blue sky and it doesn't feel intentional. Mix that with the bad credits placement and it's probably my least favourite FMA:B OP. The only thing that could maybe justify the credits box would be a matter of what Japanese TV aspect ratios were like at the time? Like, a "keep this in this frame so people with older TV's will see all these credits", but even I don't know if that was a thing and I think it looks awful.
