Sky Pirate Girlfriends - EDITING BREAKDOWN (Patreon Exclusive)

Oho, what's this? A behind-the-scenes editing video!

Have you ever wondered why it takes so long for Dogs in Love-style videos to come out? Here's why! Watch this all the way through and then never ask me that question again!!!

At the start of this video I warn the viewer that the program might crash a few times. It does crash twice at the start, but it behaves for the rest of the run, so don't worry too much about skipping around or downtime.

Some parts of my process I didn't go over in this video that I remembered after I finished it:

Hopefully someone finds this video interesting! Feel free to ask questions, I guess?

as a video editor i found this really interesting, you have a lot of neat tricks going on behind the scenes

Finally got around to this, and I'm super glad I did! Love seeing break-downs like this, and I'd definitely love to see more for future projects so long as they don't interrupt your workflow for anything else!

Alec

This was super interesting, I definitely appreciate the breakdown!

Yusef Abdol-Hamid

jello the amount of work you put into these videos is like. youre the fucking crane wife from mythology pulling out your own feathers to make fine textiles for your ungrateful bitch of a husband (the audience)

Flare TheGunCalamity

I do not envy the amount of time, skill, and effort these videos take. Absolutely wild they turn out so well

If you're wanting to do more queer not-quite-criminal found families, try "Penny Larceny", it's like $10 on steam and could really use your brand of voice acting.

Okay, I just finished watching this and dear God, this was helpful to affirm what goes into making the kinds of videos you do. Now that you've mentioned it, I'llhave to find the STiB guide next. I did have a question though! You mentioned in the video that a lot of the bits you make on stream are very visually-based, as if you had an idea of what it would look like at the time. And clearly, you need to get assets together in order to make these bits a reality. Is there any point after the rough cut that you make a storyboard or similar list of assets that you'll need throughout the video? Or is it all done in the moment? I know you can only plan for so much, but learned (won't say know since I've never worked in an animation studio) back in college that storyboarding is essential for any decent film or animation and can see that saving you sometime. Either way, thanks for making this!

Damn as much as I know that Jello is a perfectionist I never realized how much work goes into each video

Colin Hamill

there were so many little touches that you put in that I just didn't notice. like inflating Enrique's ass

Drednot

This was a great breakdown! Definitely did not notice the Jan 6th calendar, such a fun addition with the way the whole Yafutoma bit played out. The more I learn about editing, the more stunned I am at the fact anything gets done.

Act One

Genuinely super excited to watch this one; the text tips alone are super helpful. It took me way too long to figure out the first two rules on my own, and I'm only just now hearing the third. Still not sure how to achieve the flow that comes so naturally in your videos, but I'll try the tips with the colors and conversational dialogues!

Candaru Driemor

I said this in my comment on youtube, but I also wanted to express my thanks here for uploading this. It's great to see your process and what sort of tricks you use for video editing.

Atelous

Count me as one of four people to watch it. Amazing! I’m such a sucker for this stuff and I’m very happy I joined the Patreon hehe

Abby Schreiber

The ammount of work u put into these videos is insane, they're always so funny too!

Fug0th

This was really interesting to watch

Markisgay

Dear God, this is everything I could have ever hoped for from this Patreon, and I've only read the synopsis. As a freelance Youtube editor, this is super valuable and I'm going to study my ass off watching this and the YT upload repeatedly next week
