Here's this thing! An hour and some change of me talking about design changes I would make, primarily in regards to the newly re-uploaded Anime Campaign: Episode 2. Most of this is about map and encounter design.
NOTE: The first half of this audio is about changes I would make as a GM, but the second half focuses on player etiquette. There are a few things the players did in these two adventures that I'd like to use as teachable moments for TTRPG players in general, and in order to do that I end up critiquing their performances a bit. I know that type of thing makes certain listeners uncomfortable, so here's your warning up front. I like to think that my friends (who I love and still play TTRPGs with) would be cool with me needling their old performances from 7+ years ago in the same way that I'm ok critiquing my bad GMing from this era. There are some really uncool moments I cut out of the edited video that I'm going to talk about in here because they make for good lessons.

During your plaster rant I had to take a second and go, wait which one was plaster? AND IT WAS QUINTON? Heresy, most enjoyable character to watch. Although it can definitely be annoying to play with that kind of person sometimes, didnt seem too bad in the cut version though

2024-02-24 08:37:46 +0000 UTCthis is rough to listen to. i mean *I* liked it but when i first heard the warning i thought "who would need a warning for this" and like now... yeah i get it. its so viscerally uncomfy hearing jello correctly insulting his friends for an hour, very mad at them, and then the heartwrenching description of plaster's sadness. would not recommend to most people.

2023-02-02 17:24:23 +0000 UTCThe only, ONLY courtesy I will give to the "secret plan" mindset is that, as you kinda hit on, a lot of older TTRPGs had a significant Player vs. GM mentality, where players telling the GM their plan was a sure-fire way to ensure the GM ruined it. Which is! Bad! Modern TTRPG playstyles lean a LOT more into the cooperative storytelling, rule of cool style of gameplay, but it took a while for that concept to really be accepted by the wider player-base. Still an INSANELY bad mindset to have in a primarily co-op game, but I can understand why a player from 7+ years ago would have that misunderstanding.
