Other updates for Patrons!

I'm still working my way through the Kickstarter stretch goals! This last week my focus has been on this hoodie we're finally getting made. This thing has been a hassle!!!

We were going to do a little promotional ad, half-animated and half a film of Dani, but Dani came down with Covid. Because this is the 2020 decade where nothing ever gets done because it's constantly being interrupted by misery.

It's neat, but also a little exhausting to be animating any stretch of Epithet again, even something like a 1 minute long commercial. Hypothetically this campaign is going to be out on the 20th? We'll see!

I'm going to try and dump a bunch of new stuff on Patreon in September, including all of the new character portraits we're using for this ad. Original Molly's proportions are actually really off compared to all the other characters. It's not so noticeable when she's next to Giovanni, but standing next to Feenie and Trixie makes it REALLY easy to see. That's why they're standing awkwardly apart in perspective at the end of Season 1, so you can't tell. We had to re-draw like 12 Mollies just for this. Every little step of this thing takes work!!!

We're also working on the Great at Crime extended version music video. Here are some rough sketches from the artist. I'm an idiot and instead of just going "This can be a static image and a song" I wanted to animate this video a little bit with bouncing Banzai Blasters moving in the background. Will I ever learn? Probably not.

I've also gone back to working on the TTRPG book in my spare time, which is not often. Currently I'm working on fleshing out the example character sheets. So much of this system is "YOU make it up!" that I need to have a lot of examples for new players. I split it into seven broad mechanical archetypes:

• DPS - Deals damage
• TANK - Absorbs damage
• SUPPORT - Buffs characters / Debuffs enemies
• HEALER - Restores stamina
• GAMBLER - Setups that require time and luck
• CONTROLLER - Manipulate the arena
• SUMMONER - Summons allies

Each of these seven archetypes have two example characters, one mundie and one inscribed, and both of them have 3 sample character builds each. I want to show off how even if you're focusing on a single epithet or concept, you can build lots of different characters out of that. Two of our example characters, Sierra and Meryl, are above! Some of you probably recognize them from Anime Campaign.

For instance, Sylvie is the example for "Epithet Summoner". He has three different kits, all of which use his epithet, Drowsy:

• A pure summoner build, where he gets stronger the more sheep he currently has on the field.
• A status-effect build, where Sylvie lulls enemies to sleep and then summons their nightmares as assists.
• A tank-summoner build, where the one creature he summons is Dr. Beefton. The minigame is keeping Beefton on the field as long as possible as being in the Beefton form passively drains stamina, but hitting enemies and putting them to sleep restores stamina.

I'm actually almost done with the example section! I need to figure out how to set up a character sheet though. I'm trying to figure out if I can get anyone to make a modular sheet that looks nice, but also has boxes that grow the more you type in them since epithet abilities can be SO diverse. Sometimes it takes one sentence to describe their rules, sometimes it takes two paragraphs.

In non-Epithet news, I'm currently setting up another Name That Tune livestream since I had so much fun with the last one. This one's theme is going to be memes/viral internet songs. I'm changing the rules slightly so that you can get multiple points off of each entry: One point for knowing the name of the meme/describing it, and two points for naming its source.

I'd like to do this one for charity! But I'm not sure which one to pick. I was thinking something trans youth-related. Do you guys have any suggestions?

In Patreon news, I have one new review going up tomorrow. It's for Infinity Train, the most highly requested show you guys wanted me to watch and review! ...I didn't like it very much, to be honest! Which sucks, because I was really excited to watch a good new show. I think I'm the only person I've met who doesn't like Infinity Train? I'll try to explain why in this bonkers long 2-hour review I wrote. You can literally just watch a season of Infinity Train in that time period. Woof. 

I also found my old WordPress website which has a bunch of old reviews and the original So This is Basicallys, which were actually Text LP-style parodies of various games. Would that be something you guys would be interested in seeing? To be clear, these reviews are from like... High School Jello. So they're not very insightful and the StiB parodies aren't very funny. And they're long. But maybe you'd want to see them? I dunno, it could be fun to revisit them. Maybe I could annotate them and be like "yo this joke SUCKS, idiot".

Let me know if that sounds worth doing. Finding a way to format these old StiBs would actually take quite a bit of time! They look like this:
