WHIMSICALSQUIRREL'S DOM/SUB ARCHETYPES

When it comes to the scenarios I'm best known for, a big part of making them effective is pairing the right dom characters with complimentary sub characters, in an effort to find the best dynamic between personalities. As a result, there are a number of basic archetypes I start with as a baseline idea before fleshing out the character's more specific traits. As a hopefully fun bit of background info, I thought I'd list them here, just to give everyone an idea of what I call them, how I view them, and how I like to utilize them. (Whimsy's Note: The names of each archetype isn't necessarily literally descriptive of a character of that type but rather, the nickname I've given to the archetype.)

DOMS

BOOGEYMAN: A larger character who generally works alone, a Boogeyman character excels in chase situations and is meant to feel like a force of nature, with a feeling of inevitability as they stalk their target. A typical Boogeyman is more likely to ambush their target or allow them to corner themselves rather than running them down. Ordinarily soft spoken, a Boogeyman dom lets their size and relentless march toward their prey do their talking. Ideal for those who like to be hunted, and feel a sense of panic.

LAUGHING BOOGEYMAN: Similar qualities to a normal "Boogeyman" but rather than being stoic and all business, a laughing boogeyman is joking, laughing, and all too eager to show you what's gonna happen when he gets you. Also unlike the normal Boogeyman, this character is more likely to directly chase and display an overall faster, more aggressive chase tactic. He's most effective by juxtaposing the panic of his target while he's having the time of his life.

MEATHEAD: Big on size, short on brains, a meathead character is your more standard crude and straight-forward dom who's just looking for a place warm and wet to put it, while bombarding you with sophomoric but no less irritating taunts while he does it. Highly versatile but best suited when paired with a sub for whom succumbing to this guy seems beneath them. The appeal of succumbing to a simple brute hardly needs to be explained, and is a timeless classic.

VIRTUOSO: Exceptionally talented in the carnal arts, a Virtuoso uses their sexual prowess to impose their dominance, using the sub's own pleasure against them. The Virtuoso incorporates foreplay and teasing to put their sub in such intense sensory overload, they're unable to mount any meaningful resistance. In some cases, the sub is completely worn out and effectively rendered limp and helpless before the 'main event' arrives, leaving them completely at the mercy of the dom, who is now free to conduct 'business' at his own pace. In a competitive environment, the savvy sub considers this dom their most dangerous opponent, knowing there's little you can do once he turns your own body's loyalty over to him.

GEMINI: A pair of characters with similar qualities and are generally presented as two parts of a whole unit, working toward the same goal. They're distinct from simply teaming up two doms in that a Gemini pair is specifically two guys who look and/or act similarly to each other, and approach the situation with a similar attitude and style. They're ideal for situations where you know what you want - you just want two of it. Additionally, the two characters allows to maintain more of the 'personal' touch between characters that can be lost in larger, gangbang scenarios.

SWEETHEART: A character whose relentless dominance is offset by his sweet demeanor. He's generous, charming, perhaps even cute - but when it's game time, he's not going to give you a moment's rest, although he may take a second to thoughtfully ask if you're at least still conscious. The dichotomy of the character's dominant sexual performance juxtaposed against his gregarious nature makes for a unique and layered, psychological appeal, and is a good fit for those who want rough sex but not necessarily rough situations.

COWORKER: While not always literal a work acquaintance, the Coworker-type dom is a character who is calm and casual about the situation, often with some level of familiarity with the sub. He doesn't feel the need to be overly crass in his boasting, though may make smug little comments here and there as more of a playful rib. He and the sub have likely had several run-ins in the past, and he treats the situation as business-as-usual, almost as if he simply has a job to do, as does the sub, in a kind of unspoken understanding. Ideal for situations when the dom and the sub have some kind of established relationship.

GREMLIN: Also known as "Little Shits," Gremlin doms are smaller guys, usually in groups, prone to overwhelming one larger sub with their numbers. Often snickering and mischievous, Their appeal is generally derived from their perceived weakness individually, juxtaposed against the assumed might of the sub, and the embarrassment of being bested by these, yes, little shits. Though no longer a favorite of the Whimsy catalogue, they are nonetheless a known and named archetype and may one day see a return to the grand stage.

TOWN BULLY: This dom derives satisfaction not just from sexual pleasure, but from leaving their sub embarrassed and defeated. Often amidst a steady flow of taunts and laughter, Bully doms will likely opt for positions which are particularly undignified for the sub, particularly if there are any spectators, and may perform additional acts beyond traditional, penetrative sex meant to be purely humiliating or humbling. Bullies are particularly effective when paired with subs with whom they have an ongoing rivalry, and/or have previously encountered, and are a favorite of those with an interest in humiliation themes.

SCHOOL BULLY: Somewhat similar to both the Town Bully type and the Boogeyman, School Bully doms are distinct in that they devote much of their energy and focus into one particular sub, pursuing and confronting them on a regular basis, so regularly in fact that it effectively becomes an expected, though irritating, part of the sub's routine. He may perform a variety of acts on his favorite sub, or save one special 'activity' in particular for them. School Bully doms pair quite well with subs known for their planning and evasion tactics, particularly when they fail, with the effectiveness of the scenario only growing with the context of every, previous encounter in mind.

OLD PRO: As the name suggest, this dom is an older character with a wealth of experience in subduing and taming subs. Generally calm and focused, the old pro is more prone to capitalizing on (and swiftly correcting) the sub's mistakes rather than engaging in a more aggressive, physical altercation. When paired with younger, stubborn subs, his appeal lies in his cool expertise against the sub's more frantic and aggressive resistance.

SUBS

TOUGH GUY: Bullheaded and feisty, this character is difficult to tame and is unaccustomed to finding themselves in the submissive role. Possessing an, at times, overconfidence in their physical abilities, Tough Guy subs often find themselves biting off more than they can chew. Best paired with physically imposing and humbling doms. The tough guy is one of several types which appeal to those who wish to see the sub taken down a peg.

BADDIE: Similar to the Tough Guy sub but considerably more dangerous, this character has zero qualms about causing injury to unwelcome doms who don't take proper precautions. Putting this character in situations which are feasible for doms can be tricky. Forced oral is pretty much out. Can pair well with similarly imposing doms, but also with ironically less imposing doms. The Baddie appeals to those who like to humble characters with a fierce independent streak - a theme not without its appeal, but is worthy of scrutiny, depending on the intent.

TOMBOY: A type of female sub known for eschewing all or most typically feminine coding. A Tomboy sub is generally best handled not my making a big show of how not 'girly' they are but simply presenting them, from the onset, as indistinguishable from 'one of the guys' in terms of personality. Similarly to orientation play, a Tomboy sub can be used very effectively, if done with the upmost care, when paired with a male dom in a fashion which confronts traditional views of femininity and masculinity in sexual situations.

WHOA-DUDE: A more energetic offshoot of the Tomboy type, Whoa-Dudes are a type of female sub notable for her boyish personality and 'up-for-anything' tendencies. Whoa-Dude subs are less afraid of 'bad endings,' taking something of an "Aw, crap" attitude upon being confronted by an imposing dom (Or, if you will, "whoa, dude"). Whoa-Dude subs are pretty hearty and always brush themselves off after an intense encounter with a dom, though that doesn't mean they won't have a rough go of it. Works well with more no-nonsense doms, and their ability to simply move on to the next thing makes them appealing to those who don't like to take themes like this too seriously.

WISPY: The standard shy, timid, skittish sub. Generally presented as taking few risks in their lives, Wispy subs much prefer flight over fight. Although lacking in some of the more unique and interesting qualities of the other subs, Wispy subs can still sometimes have their appeal when juxtaposed against a particularly imposing dom, or when presented as confronting, even if my force, their previously repressed sexuality.

NEWBIE: Whether new to sex itself, or new to the scenario in which sex is being presented to them, Newbie subs are characters generally presented as in over their heads in a situation that is unfamiliar to them. Newbies can take on many of the qualities of a Wispy sub, but can also be more confident, perhaps even overconfident, in their ability to confront the situation. But whether confident or not, Newbie subs are likely to panic when in a dom's grasp, often realizing they're not quite ready for what's in store for them. For those who like the sub to feel overwhelmed.

EAGER BEAVER: A sub who is, as you might have guessed, eager at the thought of finding themselves at the business end of a dom. More prevalent in typical porn scenarios, it can be challenging to attach a compelling psychology to scenes involving Eager Beaver subs, although this can be achieved in situations where the sub in question finds themselves at the mercy of a dom who is proving to be, physically, more than they can handle.

LEADER: A type of sub with a lot of confidence and fierce independent streak, this character is one who always has a plan or strategy when trying to get the upper hand on doms, which may be foiled through bad luck, cruel irony, or similar. If there are multiple subs in play, the Leader may take it upon themselves to lead them all to victory, taking on a kind of protective role, particularly if flanked by Newbie types. The Leader is cool and collected when in control but may become a panicky mess when on the brink of defeat.

KNOW-IT-ALL: This character can be similar to the Leader, except their perception of their own cunning and intelligence is often just that - perception. Know-It-All subs tend to dismiss advice given them, living and dying on their own instincts which they assume to be correct. Even when literally penetrated by the consequences of their mistakes, the Know-It-All will often find themselves in denial that it could have ever have been their own fault. Another good character for those who like to see the sub taken down a peg.

BRAT: An intensified version of the Know-It-All, Brat subs, as the name implies, often rude, stubborn, profoundly irritating characters who are immensely satisfying to see get their comeuppance. Brats are generally designed to make the dom's actions appear more justified and can be helpful in making more rough situations seem more palatable for certain viewers. When correctly executed, Brats pair nicely with just about any dom, just so long as it finally happens.

VETERAN: A sub who has experienced their share of the male anatomy over the years, the Veteran is a hearty sub who is hard to intimidate and even harder to surprise. Even the most aggressive and boorish dom will struggle to elicit more than an irritated groan from this sub, although if genuinely impressed, the Veteran isn't afraid to give credit where it's due, though this is more likely to happen with a dom who has the experience to match. At times a victim of their own resiliance, a Veteran can expect to be put through the ring by a frustrated dom desperate to ring her bell. Ideal for those who like mature subs who can give a dom a little bit of sport before succumbing to their affections.
