Hi Adepts! This is the Gated Passage (35x35), a walled and fortified road passing between rocky ledges. Your alternate version gives a reason why the wall is there- everything to the west has been desaturated, so beware!

1. Side note- I'm on day 4 of a cold that's kicking my ass, so this will be one of my shortest blog posts of all time. Cool?
The idea here? Make a walled road, much like one of my first popular maps, the Mountain Checkpoint, from 2018 (yikes, I've been at this for a while huh?). I figured an updated version of that would probably be a good idea since that original is very small and visually very different from my current style as I've streamlined my process in recent years and made dozens of huge stylistic decisions.
2. Outlines! You know how I was working on different ways to draw rock walls? Well that other style didn't look right here, so I went straight back to the old way. This style also isn't perfect, but I simply didn't have time to come up with a 3rd option so here I am.
I'll note that I put a lot of effort into making a version of this map without all the props but I promptly messed up the layers for that version and didn't have time to fix it all. Bummer.
Sick children are starting to wake up from their naps, I have to write faster.
3. The ol' fall palette continues to look a little odd without autumnal-colored trees. Comparing this to the Autumn Stream you can see how they're the same palette but the colors of the leaves do a lot to bring it all together. I felt like the setting for this map would feel better without any trees though, so that's that.
