Hey, dear friends and Patrons! ๐
As some of you know, I've spent much of my creative journey crafting exquisite portrait images. In my humble opinion, they've turned out rather splendidly, and I couldn't be more grateful for your unwavering support โค๏ธ. But as I admired these beautiful characters, a desire to see them in expansive, stunning landscapes started to take root. What if these portraits could break their bounds and become widescreen images, perfect for desktop wallpapers? ๐ผ๏ธ
Now, creating a widescreen or landscape image is not as straightforward as one might think. It's not merely about swapping the width and height of the canvas. It's a delicate dance between giving the character enough space to be drawn in full detail and avoiding a result that is distorted or unrecognizable. If we simply swap dimensions, we end up reducing the space where our character should shine, leaving insufficient room to render a clear face or a complete figure.
After running through thousands of experiments and test runs, I've discovered three primary approaches to showcasing our favorite characters in landscape format:
While all three have their merits, my preference leans towards the first and second, but mostly the latter. Seeing the full beauty of the characters we've grown to love is an opportunity I never want to miss ๐.
However, this comes with its own set of challenges. Generating larger images with AI is a process that demands more time and energy โฐ๐ก. Moreover, the success rate, or yield rate as we call it, of landscape images is considerably lower than that of portraits. To give you an idea, while I average a yield rate of about 60% for portraits, for landscapes, it's halved to just 30%. This means most of the time I'm left sifting through numerous less-than-perfect images, discarding those where the characters might have an extra limb or a misshapen face. Nevertheless, this hurdle is far from insurmountable. With time and patience, the gems in the rough begin to reveal themselves ๐.
At present, I'm in the process of generating landscape images of our beloved Tifa set against a backdrop of the mesmerizing Nightcity ๐. Once the selection process is complete, I'll curate a set that I hope to release in August. Keep your eyes peeled for this!
Creating these images is a process of exploration, experimentation, and many trials and errors. It's been a fascinating journey so far, one that wouldn't be possible without your support. So, stay tuned for more updates and, as always, thank you for being part of this artistic adventure!
Warm regards,
