Beachside Ledge, Adept

This is the Beachside Ledge (25x25), a map which encountered technical difficulties and is now significantly smaller than it should be. I recovered what I could but it's still smaller than I'd like and also strangely cropped, but even so I think it's still good enough for you to use, so go nuts!

 1. Here's an artist's interpretation of what this map was intended to be. In fact, this is what the map looked like until yesterday morning when I discovered the rest to be missing. I was going to include a nice fishing camp in that big sandy area with additional variants without it, but unfortunately once cropped the camp was awkwardly close to the edge of the map and was therefore cut.

This current version is fun in its own way, I suppose, though maybe I should have cut the water and subbed in more dirt- implying the water down there does sorta give the impression that this was cropped strangely. I was too bummed out to do anything other than finish the shading and variants, so I didn't consider making any major changes to the bones of the map.

 2. I mentioned in a previous Behind the Scenes that I was going to try new ways of drawing rock walls, and this is attempt #1- cave walls with grass on top. It's good for implying some height, but it's a little over-detailed and tricky to shade. I have thoughts on how I'll improve on it, especially so as to make the tops of the platforms feel less flat. I'm thinking small bits and pieces of ledges near the ledges will be the solution here, but I'll have to try it out to know for sure.

 3. I still can't believe how hard a time I've had coloring these tropical maps, it feels like it should be my bread and butter but I guess all those Spooky and Underdark maps have become more my default type of map. Someday I'll have to make a regular forest map again just to see how unexpectedly difficult I find it. I bet it'll be eyeopening.
