Some interesting trivia, at the time of making this film.. the real life new york mafia was heavily against getting it made. Coppola and producers were dealing with threats, bribes and protests to affect the production. They did not want it made... until it was released and they LOVED it ๐ they loved how epic it made them look as men of honor, loyalty and italian pride. Nothing like how they actually are.. y'know as brutal ruthless scumbag criminals with no regard for anyone. The producers didn't want Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. They were heavily pushing to fire Pacino, instead demanding popular film stars of the time. But Coppola didn't budge on his decision, believing Pacino was PERFECT as Michael. So imagine that... we almost could've not had Al Pacino as Michael. I wonder how different the movie could've been with someone else playing Michael.

Luca Brasi I guess may be the biggest flop of the film but in the book they do a good job at showing you how evil and loyal to the Don he is. The book built him up to be pure evil incarnate in human form that even the Don lowkey feared him and was glad he was loyal lol... making his quick demise even more shocking to the reader. I guess showing all that does a better job at making you understand shit is getting real if their top enforcer got easily taken out. But this is already a 2 hr 50-ish min film so they don't have that time. This is the best lightening in a bottle you could ever get: best cast with peak acting performances all around, gorgeous lighting and cinematography that makes this film timeless and iconic theme song. You couldn't find a better combination to make a great film.
