Some people have gone on saying they don't like the therapy scenes, which is crazy because its the core of the show! We get some insight into Tony's psychology in those scenes with Melfi, and then we get to see his behavior in action when outside. The show has outright said it this episode. Tony has mother issues.. which has already manifested in his attraction to Melfi. Look forward to 6 seasons of unlocking more and more of Tony's psychology and how it manifests in his actions and choices. The depth, contradictions and complexity of his character is so good. Excellent writing carried by fantastic performances. Its no wonder The Sopranos has been praised as one of the best television series of all time.
