Elderwick Manor

Heya, everyone,

Unfortunately, It's been quite a difficult few weeks for me, with most of my family testing positive for Covid. This left me with a ton of day job work to coordinate next to taking care of everyone!

I'll do my best to make it up to you all during the holiday break, in which I plan to do some heavy solo gaming and write-ups.

I did have some fun with a few hexflowers I made to generate a sprawling manor dungeon system in which my characters had to investigate why gruesome undead children and mechanical puppet horrors were roaming the countryside around the manor of a noble family with a tragic backstory.

I like to use small counters of different colors to generate results with these hexflowers, using it as a kind of on-the-fly GM description generator to interpret as I play along. That way, I never know what is around the corner, and the structure that emerges is great fun to re-visit. I included a small example of a manor wing I explored for reference!

Enjoy diving deep into Elderwick Manor!

Cheerio,

John

Personally, I roll for threats whenever I enter a room, but also try to do so per larger area (wing in this case) to represent wandering monsters. It is entirely up to you! Also, they dont have to be creatures, the threat could also be an event or dangerous circumstance like the ceiling being very unstable. Hope this helps!

Nice work on this, I plan to play through and "fantasize" it. When do you roll for a threat?
