Factions and Favors

Heya, everyone!

Hope you all had a nice weekend filled with (solo) gaming opportunities and maybe had a chance to play around with Mythic Starters III.

This week I've been trying out an interesting mechanic for handling character faction membership.

I'm a huge fan of organizations and groups in settings because they really give a sense of a living breathing world. However, I always find it challenging to have that sense of belonging when I play a member of such a group in solo games.

Factions and Favors presents a simple mechanic for asking favors, having to pay your dues, and resolving what happens in your faction finteractions. I also included three example factions for you to play around with:

Carnival of Smoke and Mirrors: Is a tight-knit troupe of carnival performers recently freed from the hypnotic manipulations of the Mirrormaster, a fiend in human guise who used planar mirrors to capture the souls of carnival visitors.

Mercurial Conclave: Faced with dwindling power in the mundane world, an alliance of fey resolve to prepare for Duskfall, the final battle between fey and mundane.

The Eyes of Mordoch: Mordoch the beholder carefully monitors all important events within the city from the comfort of his sewer lair and grants special rings to those who have fallen on hard times.
