The Lyrical Gnome is a well-known roadside inn along the southern trade route. It offers respite from the loneliness of the road in the form of delicious meat dumplings, soft pillows, and unfortunately, remarkably horrendous entertainment.
Retired gnomish bard Poner Valvyn, is the cantankerous owner of the Lyrical Gnome and manages the small community that has sprung up around the inn. They cater to the whims and needs of visiting travelers, no questions asked, as long as the coin is plentiful.
Unfortunately, Poner’s performances in the common room leave a lot to be desired...
Heya, everyone!
Hope you all enjoyed generating Noteworthy Tavern Patrons and their often not-so-secret plans last week.
I thought it would be a fun idea to create a small adventure setting this week that features a famous roadside inn run by a horrendously untalented gnome bard who serves exquisite meat dumplings with a huge helping of secret on the side. Special mention goes to Doorknob the retired paladin warhorse!
Perhaps you might even be able to generate some other interesting patrons using Noteworthy Tavern Patrons!
Anyway, you should have no trouble placing this adventure setting anywhere in your own campaign as it is pretty self-contained. In my game, the meat dumplings ended up being stuffed with magically animated turnips instead of the more obvious 'meat' source.
I suppose that element of surprising even yourself is a huge part of why solo roleplaying can be so much fun! Would be nice to know what you all use to facilitate surprise in your games?
Cheerio,
John
