The door to the tavern slams opens, letting in a cold draft and the sounds of unrest. A handful of soldiers wearing the tabard of House Shackleton enter and look around intently.
The other patrons grow fearfully silent as the Shackleton soldiers catch sight of the muttering beggar in the far corner. Their leader smiles coldly as he orders his men to draw their swords.
„You boys ‘eard sergeant Salvodor! Retrieve the beggar. No witnesses.”, the cruel man spits out.
The beggar seems blissfully lost in wine-fueled thoughts as the screaming starts and the Shackleton soldiers advance intent on murder.
Hello, everyone and welcome to the new year. Hopefully, 2020 will bring us all lots of solo tabletop roleplaying fun!
This week I used Amanda Rader's suggestion 'replacement', and boy it was a challenging one :) It turned out fun though, as I managed to squeeze in a playtest session between Christmas and new year.
It was also a fun way to test out a new way to incorporate suggested plot developments into the adventure seed templates. I also used the tavernkeeper from last week's upload, because it gave me a chance to try out the conversation system some more.
As always, the adventure seed is easily transportable to whatever setting you prefer. In short, it features the lord mayor of a city being charged with corruption by an important wizard, just before a beggar turns up showing an uncanny resemblance to the said wizard. Meanwhile, the vote to depose the lord mayor approaches. Who is plotting against who?
In my story, the poor beggar ended up being a discarded clone of the wizard who was a power-hungry tyrant trying to become lord mayor himself. Guess he was trying to be in too many places at the same time :) Have fun trying to find out the story behind the blind beggar yourself!
Cheerio,
John
