"Hidden away within the badlands is a site of unholy evil- A place of corruption and transformation.
The altar was originally constructed as a receptacle of divine power. A holy place for all faiths to perform powerful rituals.
Unholy fiends had long envied the gods’ use of priests as divine agents in the mortal realms. The holy wonders of the altar soon drew the attention of the infernal powers..."
Heya, everyone! 'Altar of the Malefactor' was made by combining the (thematically connected) creative input of Reclusive Knights Amanda Rader (corrupting) and Jeromy Smith (unholy) into an interesting dungeon idea featuring an ambitious cleric selling his soul to infernal powers in exchange for corrupting a very powerful divine altar. Unfortunately, he doesn't exactly get what he bargained for!
You should be able to integrate this randomizing adventure location into any remote location that sees at least some travel. Or perhaps when a divine spellcaster NPC goes missing and the tracks lead into the badlands.
In my game, my bard character had a brother who was a cleric. When he went missing, it fell to my bard to find him. This resulted in a gruesome scene when my bard found his brother's remains... This is where the 'flesh-covered ossuary' and the 'recently bone-picked bodies' entries come from. Poor guy.
Enjoy!
