I had been toying with the idea of a simple story driver to kick off a mini-adventure series featuring my human ranger character. After some brainstorming, I decided to roll up some oracle results (descriptives and actions) and compile them into a new Oracle map to fuel your imagination during solo play, and give you a re-usable mini setting to kick off your own imagination.
The original idea for the story driver was to have some loggers from a nearby human settlement stumble upon a portal to the Faerie World, and then have the loggers mysteriously not return to the settlement. A mystery for my character to solve!
As you can see on the map, the Faerie World can be entered from three different locations in the Mundane World: following the path through the Faerie portal, going on a Druid spirit journey or opening the cellar portal in Castle Stalwart. These are important, because they offer different ways to enter the events going on in the Faerie World. Oakfall Village is a good starting place, as is the Church of Dawn.
In summary of my own character's adventure, after investigating the abandoned logging camp, she was captured by magic-hunting templars from Caste Stalwart that were also investigating the logging camp. However, she escaped through the cellar portal there (a stolen Faerie artifact) and found herself in the Faerie World. There she bargained with a Bog Hag and found out that a warlike Faerie prince had been banished from the crumbling Faerie Court. He was now secretely amassing an army of murderous Redcaps near the original portal from the Faerie World into the Mudane World and the logging camp. I could go on for a bit, but it was quite fun!
Also, don't be afraid to change things up. My next play through will be with a Faerie character starting in the Faerie Court going through the map from a different perspective!
Cheerio!
