I have to agree, this was not my favorite Superman. My favorite scene with him was the interview with Lois (Rachel Brosnahan was excellent). I wish other moments were allowed to breathe like that one. I’m fairly certain the introduction of the Justice Gang was to introduce those characters for future projects. Nicholas Hoult shined as Lex Luthor. Great reaction, as always

ok ok. Now Please put the James Gunn ""Suicide Squad" on the list, then "Peacemaker". James Gunn is completely rebooting the DCU and both of these will be part. Suicide Squad was James Gunn's first DC movie and it's amazing. John Cena, Margot Robbie and Idris Elba are amazing in it. Peacemaker is a follow up series starring John Cena's Character. While irreverent, it's amazing. It's currently in it's second season. Please give it some thought. Thanks and love the content!

Well my fault, I had to wait for this to stream and I was seriously excited to see this, and I loved it. Just saying I should've watched it a lot sooner. I will definitely watch this movie many more times but I already agree that Holt is the best Luthor that I've ever seen (I still love Hackman because he was beyond perfect for the time and place, definitely the most entertaining imo, but I'm biased) and loved that they included a few jokes about his narcissism, but yeah, he was an asshole so large his could become an actual black hole. He was quintessential Lex Luthor, egoistical, petty, insecure, sometimes comically* so, but also has a terrifying intelligence and absolutely without empathy. I am a little partial to the unruly dog joke because I have dogs, and we (not me but my cohabitant, but it's gonna be my dog, I always end up taking care of the animals) have a new puppy, Chalino,.he's half Chihuahua half Pug, adorable, but he's the Tasmanian Devil. He's a tiny black Jaguar attacking my ankles every time I come out of the shower in the morning.

I thought this movie was also mid, maybe a 6 or 7 when I first saw it. But I kinda realized that I had my own preconceived notions for what a Superman movie should be; one with more gravitas, that took it self more seriously and was dramatic in tone. When I eventually accepted that this was a James Gunn action comedy, i just had a much more enjoyable experience watching it. I found out later that he specifically said the guardians of the galaxy movie was his ode to cinema, but superman was his ode to comic books and that makes a lot of sense with how wacky and insane this movie is. In the events and tones it juggles. Also, I'll take no Guy Gardner slander, Nathan Filion absolutely crushed that role, ripped right out of the comics. But he's not one of the main lanterns in the DC universe. Also I will say I dont think the entire purpose of that jelly fish was solely to be comedic, even the first time I saw it, I took it as a beautiful scenic background to a beautiful conversation happening in front of us. Anyway, sorry for the long comment, hope you guys watch The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, I think it ties well with Superman and hopefully you dont give up on the DC Universe when it just started. I hear the Supergirl movie is going to be different in tone, as it is not written or directed by Gunn. Also the show Lanterns is going to be an HBO show, supposedly in a similar vain to True Detective. And no Guy Gardner is not the main character in it, it will be the 2 best Green Lanterns, Hal and John. Ok bye 👋

Ugh what a bad film. Just... ugh.

Yeah I completely agree with Simone and George's take on this. I was like, THIS is the movie that's getting all this hype? It's just completely unserious, you never feel like there's stakes to anything. The movie laughing at itself for something dumb like Nathan Fillion's haircut or the dog being annoying doesn't make those things less dumb. Some of the "take that" moments at current US government policy are points that need to be made but the movie just has characters say them out loud at the camera instead of doing anything subversive or cleverly satirical.

To your comments at the beginning, if you truly want an alternate “Superman” take…watch Brightburn if you haven’t.
