One important detail that is very, VERY easy to miss, particularly on first viewing, is that Ellie's husband's job has something to do with international relations for the state department.
This is never elaborated on at all, and 10 seconds after mentioning it, Mark leaves the scene and we never see him or hear anything about him again. There is no indication that this line was anything other than small talk to fill a few seconds before Mark is shuffled out of the movie to let the two characters we care about have a conversation about dinosaurs.
But presumably, Mark's position in the state department is how Ellie was able to get the military deployed on short notice to Isla Sorna.

What I always hated about the third movie (and in parts the second) and all the new ones is that the love for Dinosaurs is gone. The first movie was a horror show with the raptors and the second was kinda that too, but in the end they were seen as animals, that were exploited by humans in egregious ways.
The newer movies just HATE Dinosaurs. Instead of a fun movie about something many people loved when they were younger, the animals are now vindictive, murderous and destructive. They never want anything aside from eating people. It sucks balls. All the wonder is gone, now it's just a franchise saying Dinos can be militarized and controlled and all that shit, and if you don't do it they will EAT EVERYONE!!!!!
Fucking sucks.

This is a sad day for me. It's the first time I've noticed that The Wire is no longer featured in the quick "check out our Patreon" bit. That's the show that had me subscribing immediately, day of the first episode dropping. I'm gonna go pour one out for String, Wallace, and Ziggy.

I actually vastly prefer this one over the lost world 🤷♂️. I found this one much more suspenseful than the lost world, I found the production design much more visually striking, and I honestly don’t love the San Diego sequence. Jurassic works best in the jungle imo. And to address Alan and Ellie’s split, I always viewed it as coming down to their differing responses to the trauma of the first film. Ellie wanted to forget everything and never look at another raptor, maybe she even had some PTSD. Conversely, after seeing them in the flesh Alan became even more obsessed and doubled down on paleontology. And that ultimately is what made them split up.

Aye, this movie is missing the "magic", that's for sure.
What I will say in its favor is that it incorporated several sequences from the original novel that had to be taken out of the first movie. I like that they gave those scenes a second chance to come to life.

Actually, the most up to date thinking is that some dinosaurs had feathers and some scales.

Laura Dern is 20 years younger than Sam Neil so there relationship was a little creepy, in the original she was 23 and he was 42

Also, the difference between a pterodactyl and a pteranodon:
- Pterodactyls (or Pterosaurs) are a category/genus.
- Pteranodon is a species of flying reptile that belongs to the Pterodactyl family.

I think the newer ones are worth a watch, even if the tone is slightly different. At least the first... new one. haha.

George: to answer your question in the intro about the dinosaur designs in Jurassic World:
"Some" effort has been made to make them look more bird-like and more accurate to reality.
That's all I'll say without spoiling anything.

Hey George, Just finished watching your reaction to The Abyss and heard you mention the magic word "Subnautica".
Would love to see a video of Simone playing this if she has never played it before.

I think Jurassic World is worth watching, but I’m a movie completionist. If you do react to the rest, I’ll happily watch!

Dear Cinebinge,
I hate to be the one to tell you but you’re no sync version is out of sync.
About halfway through there’s a bit where you start counting and the your audio falls behind the rest of the film.
Anyway, thanks for everything you’re doing and take care 😁👍

Yeah, the ending is pretty abrupt and you don’t get a sense of time. Plus if you didn’t catch the line about how Ellie’s husband works for the state department (since it’s a quick line and the only reference to it in the movie), it would be easy to miss HOW she was able to send the military to the island.

I think Billy survived by getting washed out under the cage before he was pecked to death, so he ended up on the beach and was found.
