Well, "MacGruber" is based on an Saturday Night Live skit that is a spoof of the "MacGuyver" TV show from 1985 to 1992. The SNL skit itself ran from 2007 to 2010 and then a for a one-episode return in 2022, so anyone who wasn't watched SNL way back when might not be familiar with it.
